This if the second diff I’ve got through in less than 5 litres of fuel.

The first one distorted and the pin was allowed to move destroying everything and as you can see with this one the bearing carrier has snapped.

Is it something I’m doing or are these well known for doing it? I’ve done the diff mods with sealing it and the silicon grit barrier thing! What are the alternatives?

This is it day before it died. Excuse the crash, I was trying to drive it with one hand and film with the other. I've notice that you can hear a whistle from the drive train that can be heard on the vid. Not noticed that on other vids I've been watching

up go the alloy upgrade , all monster truck or any fg that comes with big wheels should have the alloy diff from the factory . as the big wheels put way too much stress on the standard diff / diff housings / diff mounts .

Check your bearings. If a bearing goes out it takes out the plastic cage.
It heats up spins in the center of the bearing and melts the cage right where you see. Get rid of the plastic cage. The FG internal gears cost twice that of the alloy upgrade. The least expensive alloy cage is the FG8484. A great upgrade. Its the one I have for both my FG and FireHammer.

Make sure you buy the SS sleeve for added protection:

Clubin,

That is the 8484 with the gears. Is that the one you have? Did you fill it? I have that but didn't think it could hold the fluid? Orings or not. What holds the fluid from coming out of the outdrives?

It does eventually migrate out the out drives, but it is so easy to pull one out and refil that is what i have been doing, many many gallons and the diff has not been apart since I bought the car.

if i were you i would go to hobbythek aka rc.car.online.de in germany, you can set up an account with there webshop and buy all your parts from them, they are the best stockists of fg parts as fg themselves are a german company, and they have every available parts.

clubin has showed you exactly what to get there, but i would also order the alloy diff mounts as you are at it otherwise they will be melted in time.

hobbythek have very fast shipping,i am from ireland and always get my parts from them within 3 days, once upon a time i ordered from uk but waiting weeks for parts i said to hell with that, also as hobbythek have better stock and supply they are cheaper.

hope this helps.
