Any suggestions on getting that carbon off? I just tried hosing it down with brake clean and attempted to scrap it off with flathead. Hoping it would flake.... It did not 😂

Easy off does wonders removing carbon. Used it on some full size but not sure what it would do to nikasil though? You’ll have to do some research. It will etch aluminum if left on too long!! It’s basically foamy caustic.

I had the same carbon build up but switched to Motul because we ice race in the winter and Castol doesn’t stay as well mixed below a certain temp.

Scrape it off with an xacto knife

I tried with a flatblad and started to scrtch it so I stopped. Got a new piston and ring on order so I got time to experiment with a soak.
A gallon of carb cleaner or mineral spirits wi take it off

Fair enough. I'll let it sit and soak in mineral spirits overnight and see what happens.

@MonsterAir i know what you mean, i did it very lighlty. But john parks idea is much better, im curious if a sonic cleaner could help as i remeber @Bizzer mentioned using one of them for the hobby.

I did my engine cases with mine when I blew my stocker 32, I haven’t ever tried it removing carbon but it might, as mine will heat up to 80 Celsius. Just can’t say conclusively as I haven’t done it.

This may be hard without physically removing it as there's really nothing that can chemically break carbon down in its purest form down without crushing it and emulsify in a solution as its still suspended in a solution its never really broke down.

And I Googled this
