hello to everyone...can anybody help..i have a hobbypro superchief which is all fine and dandy good truck for the money by the way...erm the prob is not with the truck it has 1 large steering servo which works fine but just purchased a second hand 26cc fg marder which has 2 large steering servos is there any reason for this as some pics i got off the net some have 1 and some have 2...is there a reason for this...any help would be goood:helpsmilie:

It's all down to personal preference, most people go for a single powerful servo, but you can use two lower power bricks if it's all you have. :)

the older FG Modells were delivered with to Hitec hs 700 og hs705 servos.
those servoe has a power of 14 kg an 0,23 sec transfer time
the never cars has been delivered with the Hitac hs805 servo. it has holding power ogf 24 kg and a tranfer time of 0,15 sec.
the 805 servo i powerful but its anyway a crapy servo.
if you want the best servo for the steering of you large scale cars , choose a Multiplex Rhino 4 Digi. its the best thee is plain and simpel.
you can use 1 og 2

Two servos no matter what type will give you more usable power and less stress on the servos. Its over kill in most situations. Also, the hardest thing to do is get both servos to act exactly like the other and not eventually burn the other out. No matter how expensive the servo there will always be a slight difference in each one. They make special electronics to insure of this not to happen but again its over kill and more weight to the model. JM2C.:)

yes it has 2 hitec 705mg..and to be honest they are slow and the steering is off maybe its not setup right i dunno...dunno how to either...could i just put a multiplex rhino init or would i have to change something...

You should just be able to put a Rhino in the Marder as the radio plate has mount holes for both, all my friends run a single Rhino in their Marders.

servo

Here in the Netherlands the most drivers work with the Hitec HS-5745MG or the Mulitplex rhino Digi 4.

Multiplex rhino digi 4 works with the electronic parts from the Hitec HS-5745MG.
The servo's are very expensive and are very sensitive to burn out.
You must use a voltlimiter.

The Multiplex Rhino digi 4 Metal Gear servo was created for the 1/5 and 1/4 scale car market.
The Rhino features a robust gear train, motor heat sink and large diameter super strong output
shaft to give you the durability and performance you would expect from a Multiplex servo.
Motor Type: 3 Pole Ferrite
Bearing Type: Triple Ball Bearing

The Hitec HS-5745MG
This servo is not sensitive to burn out.
You do not need a voltlimiter.
You can buy this servo cheap when you search on google or look on ebay.
The HS-5745MG giant scale servo uses Hitec’s digital, programmable servo technology to
provide tons of torque and holding power for the most demanding applications.
Featuring three ball bearings, a custom external motor heat sink,
and a solid metal gear train, the HS-5745MG is the servo of choice for your next large scale R/C project.

The Hitec 5745 is smaller than the Hitec 805.
FG has a small bridge for sale.

I use the Hitec HS-5745MG also in my FG MB pro.
It works great and the holding power is super!

I use the digi 4, the specs are low as they qoute holding power where the hitecs i believe are initial power. the rhino initial is 373ozin and is faster than the hitec. Hitec is a good servo but I believe the digi 4 is the best available except for the oddified tonegawa...600ozin!!!!

i run a HS-5745MG , i have had issues in the past [ i bew a circuit board in the 1st one ] i have done a set of gears in one as well [ due to a over tight servo saver ]
but i used to bash hard with my old fg ...

I've never had a problem with a Rhino so it still remains my No#1 choice for steering, the tonegawa is too slow even though it has tonnes of torque (overkill I think).

thanks for all your help guys..i stripped it down and got them to line up the best i could and took it out for a run on local golf course hehe..although still a little slow they are doing the job but they don't seem to turn far..dunno how to sort that tho ...the prob is now it only ran for about 5 mins then cut out and would not start again i think the throttle was on a bit to much..flooding the engine..i have adjusted it but not been out yet to try...anyway thanks guys

the most important adjustment on any car no matter which servo. is EPA.

if you don't adjuste the servoers end point you will bunr the servo.
if ist named Rhino 4. Lion 2300 or elephant 1.

After a test between the Multiplex rhino digi 4 and the Hitec HS-5745MG, they
have shown that the Hitec without voltlimiter faster is than the rhino with voltlimiter.
And you need a voltlimiter with a rhino.

The most riders here that have burn out a rhino servo drive now a Hitec servo with satisfaction.
The rhino cannot have a higher voltage than 6 volts.
A battery that comes directly from the charger gives more voltage than 6 volts.
This is often immediately after loading somwere at 7 volts.
The rhino can not have this and burns out!
Therefor every bigscale shop recommend a voltlimiter to use with this rhino servo.
I am not a favor of unnecessary electronics therefore I use the Hitec servo.

I believe the Hitec is the beter one!
And cheaper:laugh:

reciever info

hi guys ...took the baby out again and it ran for less than a minute then cut out yet again and would not start....:(i think i have tracked it down to the batteries in the controller or the contacts for the batts making the failsafe kick in but could not see the light under the shell:blush:got them on charge now having another bash tomoz:)...but its got me thinking..if a buy another controller does it have to be 26.995mhz..or can i buy anything and put my crystal in it...how does it work..thanks:helpsmilie:

hello alsopal
i currently had trouble from my futaba transmitter on my fg beetle, but luckily for me i had my revo sitting up on the shelf, obviously i left in my hitek 15/scale servos in my fg beetle but i just changed the reciver on my beetle to the revo one(traxxas revo) and the traxxas transmitter and left in the crystals that were in them,i think they were 27.2 frequency, PERFECT,and they are top class quality, equally as good as most out there i think.

what ever you use just make sure its not faulty and make sure you use a fail safe on the throttle obviously.

If you are going to buy a new controller get a Broad Spectrum controller like the Spektrum or Futaba 3PMFaast. If buying new - UPGRADE!.:)

Can be found for around 150-180.oo US and the heck with crystal ever again.:cool2:

marder prob sorted

hi guys sorted the marder prob out..i got sick of taking it on golf course and not starting...it turned out to be the spark plug although looked like new was a dodgy bar steward..:)...so all is fine and dandy...oh yeh was ripping up the golf course then decided to pack it up and go home then changed my mind and thought i will give it one last blast but forgot to turn the controller on but pulled the car it kicked up but luckily i jus managed to grab it before it shot off at full revs throwing poop all up my kecks and in my face:blush:...left 2 nice tyre marks in the grass tho :)..scared the crap out of me so packed up and went home ...:)

yup..another story about almost run away...hmmmm makes ya think like i asked before about a some one posting a stick note about the use of electronic pico kill switchs...
Good thin it did not get away from you....AKASlawhammer
