I have a $2,000 dilema... (buy a Losi 5t or a Taylor 46gt)

I just took my ESP34cc out of my Vekta to put in my Vesla. I thought about putting a Taylor 35 reed in the Vekta but decided I might as well go big bore, and the 46GT seems like it would be awesome.
But at the same time, for the same price I could get a Losi 5t, a tuned pipe, and a couple upgrades.

I can only afford one of these choices. Why do I do this to myself!!! Thoughts?

Can I interest you in a high, say 25% weekly interest loan !?!?!? Just kidding and my budget for rc's used up for next 5 years....as the owner of a 5t 2.0 with nothing but a bartalone pipe I highly recommend this as your choice, best most reliable rc I own !!!

If I get the 5T, I'll get a good pipe and maybe sneak in a 34cc top end kit at some point.

I'd personally get the bigbore, mainly because once you have a couple or more they all blend in to an extent unless you have that one with a bigbore etc

That is a good point. My Baja is running on 8s, my Vesla has the ESP34, it would be awesome to have a big bore in the Vekta.

From your big bore experience: for the best well-rounded driving experience, which one would you go with between the Taylor 40, 46, and 50. I don't want overkill because I personally don't think the Vekta is the best platform for overkill.

Id get the 50GT and if for some odd reason you need more power you can turn it into a 71 Supreme far cheaper than a brand new motor.

That's tough, but the 50gt would be my choice out of those 3. As stated it can be turned into a 71 supreme if you want to later down the road. 50gt has the most torque out of the 3, great for a vekta

50 gt appears to have successfully broken my modified raminator rear diff,1st diff since last summer, but that 80+ lb monster hauls the hay !!!!!!

I am currently running the Vertigo with 17/24 gearing and Trepadores. My front gearbox is aluminum and I upgraded the rear shaft to CVD.
Honestly, can this setup handle a 50gt or is there a whole different set of upgrades that would be needed?

Have the stock motor in 5t. I think taylor recommend drive train upgrades on the "big block" motors . Email them for recommend upgrades. Very good about responding, sometimes minutes next morning at latest for me.

Taylor emailed me back. The only upgrade they reccomended that I don't already have is their chassis for extra support.

I've never seen the chassis as a needed part, but for sure is an upgrade. One of my fastest 5ives was a 46gt, built only enough to handle it. Stock front housing and all, just had a rear upgraded housing, and center diff support.

I had a 71 supreme on a bartolone chassis which was maybe a hair thicker and it was fine. The only time it wasn't is when it decided to do a cartwheel, the engine isn't the issue. I'd save the money for other things.

Sounds great ,I think up to the 46gt they say stock drive train is OK. Regularly fly mine 10 fi in air over 20 foot gap for 45 minutes. Never broke anything. Wore out drive shafts . Run outerwear products on shocks and engine .after 4 years air filter still looked brand new. All I have done is put 1 million diff oil in all 3 diffs, bartalone pipe and a velocity stack/air filter from ddm.Still runs super strong . Oh I did get brake set from Detroit rc too because the pads wore out.....Been awhile, I did break a pinion...rock... went up I think a tooth or 2 to gain speed, detroit part i believe .Remembering more , did put taylor braces in too , that's it........no 30 degree north body, getting old and forgetful, the losi body is on my 2nd raminator...duhhhh.
