I just got off the phone with tower rep...the firehammer RC Units are no longer made by the Mfg...Parts will still still avaliable for awhile.....Slawhammer

to get orig firehammer parts at a good price...some are on a budget for parts cost..
......................Slawhammer...................

it is a smartech vehicle, there are plenty of parts for them alot of these importers like engage (trust me i am in no way advertising for him!) even have alloy upgrades from three rivers.

I just looked at their site. Honestly, they have some pretty good prices. Unfortunately, they need to play a little nicer in the forums and not be so pushy about selling their products. If I ever had a horrible mishap with my HPI Baja, I would probably order one of those clones for spare replacement parts (engine, chassis). One is $358 w/o an engine. Not bad really. I wonder how good they are to order from and support?

It probably discontinued due to weak sales and the electronic sucks. I bough the truck new and had to replace all the electronic (both servos, TX/Rx, Battery) within the first month. It must cost them a fortune to warranty it.

I was on the phone with tech support couple times a week for a month before i can break it in.

They should sell it as ARTR without the electronics and nock off $100 bucks or something. It would have been less frustrating for the consumer.

It makes you think though... At one time Tower was charging over a grand for the hammer, then they kept dropping the price and dropping it until they were selling it for less than $500 with coupons and whatnot... Think about how much money they were making on these!!

My buddy owns a hobbyshop and he can get FG M/T's for 600 bucks, but he isn't "allowed" to sell them for less than 1000 bucks!! Some kind of rule set by FG...

VS Modelsport (where I got my truck a few years back) got themselves into trouble by selling the FG's for $900... It was something about underselling and cutting the throats of the smaller shops or something..

It's just a shame that companies are making a killing selling these things and we're the ones paying for it! I mean 140 bucks for a pair of tires and wheels for my truck!! Damn, I used to sell tires for real cars, so I know how much markup there is on those. You can't tell me, there is that much engineering going into a "Toy Truck" tire. If the toy tire blows out, you just buy a new one, if a "Real car" tire blows out, the manufacture has recalls and lawsuits, so that in itself would raise the price of the tire, just to cover themselves.. (Remember Firestone!)

I know this is a rich mans hobby, but it would be nice to catch a break once in awhile.. I know, you have to pay to play, right?

Trip..

I think since they are dropping the Firehammer and apparently holding onto the Firehammer MT awhile longer, they will come out with a 4wd 5th scale. Maybe a Smartech Titan type clone with the Duratrax name? Just a thought, I think they are due for a new one sometime.

There is a movement good/bad to change the pricing here in the USA as we speak. What you say about distribution pricing is correct just not being followed right now. Look around and you will see what I am talking about.

Where is a good place to start "Looking"? So far all I see is too much expense and my empty wallet!

Maybe I should start a new hobby, like collecting Canadian quarters..

Funny you mentioned that, I was born in 76 so I hang on to them when I find them. Right now I have about 50 bucks worth..

As far as the Canadian quarters, they are worth less (not worthless) so maybe I could AFFORD those

They have also discontinued the RTX and they have the raze ST down to 199.99. They seem to be getting out of the RC business. Maybe the hard economic times has now hit tower hobbies.

I bought a Duratrax Thunder Quake from Tower years ago... Before it was discontinued the price was $500. after it was discontinued, I bought mine for $250. I think they are just getting rid of old stock, so they can get in the new models... Whatever that may be??

Trip..
