Hi!

Is it possible to remove the fan cover on my FG Monster without having to take the whole engine off first? I have tried several times but I never seem to be able to remove the screw at the bottom right (see picture) Please tell me how to do

Yeah its annoying that. Can you not leave that nut off the bolt? Its abit of a nightmare to take the engine out just to take the covers off.

If you are running the small alloy motor mount (May be the same with the plastic) you use a large bolt and run it from the inside out. You use a nylon nut on the outside. When you want to take it off you just loosen the nut until it wont go any further then back out the bolt from the inside of the mount slightly until the shaft has cleared the bolt and it falls right out. No motor removal needed.:)

Edit. I think I'm thinking my FH? Should be the same though?

i tyred to do this with out taking the motor out, after alot of stuffing round for me it was easyer to pull the motor out with the pipe still attached less then 10 mins to rip the motor out

I'm with the others on this, I always just unbolt the motor and remove it with the pipe as it's so much quicker. :)

Yes thats how mine is the bolt goes from inside through the alloy engine mount the nut is just there to keep the cover on isnt it?

Thats why i asked can you just leave it off ?

Ya, you could. But if you just back the mount screw out from the inside the nut will fall off and the bolt shaft will be out of the way for removal.:)

Thanks for all your replys guys :) I will try the different strategies for removing the fan cover and see which is the easiest way.

Chassie cut for Fan Cover

I had the some problem some time ago...Had to remove the engine screws to get the
fan cover off the engine....I looked it this with some great thought..............
So I cut the raised lip off the chassie....I have had No Issues or problems since doing so..
Makes easy axcess to the fan cover now.....My main problem was engine bolts always came loose....in doing so ate up transfer & diff gears...got very costly for replacing gears.
So the less you have to undo the engine bolts or screws the better.....
Enclosed picture of cut chassie to get to fan cover.......
You do as you like...If you cut your chassie you do at your own risk.......Slawhammer
