I just bought a used Dunerunner and it needs some serious TLC. I have the Rampage MT and see a lot of the same parts. The stock engine may go on this rebuild.

Wondering what engine is best suited? I am thinking about the Zenoah g290rc or the g320rc. I am making this my budget build so I will probably just go stock, no OBR engine. Also anyone running the jetpo rear mount? Does it get damaged back there?

I run the Jetpro rear mount on a XT with no problems. They are sturdy pipes. Also if you damage the pipe they will repair it for free you just have to pay the shipping.

Oh that warranty is sweet. I have the dominator from ddm on my MT. Liked the looks and sound of the jetpro on the DR.

Thanks for the reply @Phill this thing is cool. Never saw one in person. I did notice the chassis is bent bad in the front and the previous owner just kept on running it with loose screws so many of the mounting holes are egged in the chassis. So on a search I found a chassis for it. $18 and some change for it. Must of been misspriced, but I will take it.

$18 sounds like a real bargain.
You'll love it when you get it running.
I also suggest a belt drive to replace the gears

I have that exact belt on my MT. We talked about it when I was buying it. It took me a bit to get it running without problems, but now I love it. Do you think the 1:1 belt system is the correct gear ratio for the DR? It works great for the MT with the stock wheels. I have 4 rear HPI Baja wheels and tires for the DR that I bought for the MT, I didn't like the look on it. They are the same exact tire diameter and width as the stock DR tires but with knobbies.

I'm getting 35 MPH running stock tyres but I'm a bit rich on the high needle.
When I get around to tuning it again I'm expecting about 40 MPH.
Fast enough for me.

Haha I know. If I was a greedy person I could have made a few hundred in resale on ebay. I hooked a few friends up with the link in time though. I got it for 18.03 plus tax. 40.08 is still 35-50 under everyone else that I have seen

Did you end up trying different gearing on your belt drive other than the 1:1 ?

Oh and forgot to ask. Is the rear mount jetpro DR pipe 2 piece with a silicone coulper? I don't really see any pictures of that

I haven't gotten round to shimming the .65 one yet but will when I have time.
The Jetpro has a coupler but it isn't much good.
If you need one I'll find the link for the silicone hose I bought for mine.

I should be good thanks. I have 3/4" and 5/8" silicone hose at work that I've used to reattach air pump tubes to catalytic converters on 1:1

I used plastic ties on my coupler and it works great. The metal screw down clamps destroyed my coupler quickly

Good idea. Those hose clamps just cut through the silicone hose when it gets hot.

Mine melted from the inside out.
The outside was OK but the pink "lining" went slimy and kept slipping.
Clamps weren't a problem.
Just checked and it's 1" ID so you may have to buy some.
