Can I run the Rampage XT as a 2 wheel drive?

Yes you could take it out. Try geting a thicker drive shaft like steel cvd not sure but think you could find some at fast lane

I make all the drive cups for the X car's with a stainless steel sleeve pressed on. The cup never brake's but the pin can still fail.
