Not really, I do like the way the aluminum one spins on and off. Its a lot smoother. Other than that, no.Maybe a dumb question but is there a reason to upgrade the gas cap other than bling?
Funny story..Last summer running my DBXL , it would run great for a couple laps then die. It did it over and over again. I messed with tune, changed plug and filter, ripped carb apart and still did it . I was like oh crap i blew the motor, race ported 34 ESP, i thought i checked everything. Took it out again and for some reason i unscrewed the gas cap and herd a very faint "psshht" . Friggin vapor lock!. Somehow the rubber grommet under the cap ether closed up or got pluged up, it totally screwed me up..lolMaybe a dumb question but is there a reason to upgrade the gas cap other than bling?

No more problems now, seems to run as good as usual.

links:So when you added the larger wheels/tires did you need to trim anything for the rods? I'm waiting for it to be back in stock. The buggy looks great!I skuffed the body and gave it a quick coat of paint, changed the tires to 5t size and added aluminum beadlocks to make it look a little different.
I have them. The fit and finish is quite excellent, tolerances are tight. They are definitely built to last. And they will anodize whatever color you want for no additional cost, I got mine in black.Has anyone installed the Vitavon front and rear diff housings on the 5T or LT? Looking for some feedback on quality and compatibility. They are a bit cheaper than the Taylor housings (not too much to worry about) however was considering them if they are solid and fit well.

No need to trim for tires. The stock 5t tires are just slightly taller than the ones that come with the buggy. As far as the rod ends go, I'm running the hub extenders on it so there is no interference with the rim.So when you added the larger wheels/tires did you need to trim anything for the rods? gotcha, makes sense while running the spacers. No need to trim for tires. The stock 5t tires are just slightly taller than the ones that come with the buggy. As far as the rod ends go, I'm running the hub extenders on it so there is no interference with the rim.
Darkside does an awesome job. His attention to detail , fit and finish is amazing.Got the 3dn cage and body put together today. Jared at Darkside is working on the vinyl kit.

Agree, Jared at DS seems like a really good guy. He makes some really nice wraps and other products. I should have mine pretty soon.Darkside does an awesome job. His attention to detail , fit and finish is amazing.
I'm waiting for my second wrap from him for the Vesla. Figured I better wrap before I bang up the body on that one.
I have delt with him on more than one occasion. Great guy and his stuff is killer! His pit mats are really nice. I am using one on my desk as a giant mouse pad for the computer. I feel guilty using it as a pit mat , it's too nice for that.Agree, Jared at DS seems like a really good guy. He makes some really nice wraps and other products. I should have mine pretty soon.

I have seen this type of question posed several times on the forums and FB groups. Everyone always says to go with the Zenoah. I think it's just better built and more reliable.View attachment 111108
Which engine should I go with????
So I just ordered one of these to build on from Fearless:
30 Degree North DTT-7 v2 Short Course Truck Roller

I have a 2 engine choices. The Rovan 36cc I pulled from my 360 LT. It's new other than initial break in, tune, and test run.
Or, a fresh (I think) Zenoah 320, I got from a guy doing an electric conversion on a 5T 2.0. Also got the original Losi servos, radio/batt tray from the 2.0 and a Taylor 2.0 center diff housing w/brace. The 320 has new Fujiwara hop up kit installed as well as a spare complete Fuji kit in box.

So which one from all you experts?
Also wanting to keep the 3DN as close to a race spec truck (light and within the cc requirement/limit) I don't even know the engine size requirement or limit. As mention previously we don't have an actual 1/5 track in Colorado but what do the tracks like MOD allow, or is there multiple classes in 1/5 truck/buggy?
Nice choice..I think the 30dn is a little nicer than the Rovan. Very slight differences between them. The 30dn should have the right brake cams for your center diff already. Pull the bottom ring off the 36 and see how it goes, I've been wanting to do it to mine but haven't had the time and unfortunately I don't have anything to put it in at the moment. Definitely Zenoah for dependability.View attachment 111108
