Well - I finished converting the Pajero to MT and decided to take it out this morning for bash around the field in front of my house and to get the engine tuned in.

Things were going great, the engine was coming in nice and strong - and then I decided to get adventurous - started driving it full tilt - further away.

Wouldn't you know it -the local council has stuck a sign in the middle of the field saying "NO GOLF". The only obstacle in about 1 acre of ground - and I hit it:oops:

Not quite as bad as some of those being reported here - but bad enough, see the before and after below. Still gives me an excuse to go and buy some stonger shiny bits:clown:

Ah,
I see someone finally found the real reason for the upgrade of the alloy A arms, I'm surprised with all that bling you don't have them, or maybe you do and I can't see right. Well if not you would of been replacing them sooner or later and maybe its a good thing later cause you would of probably torn the upright apart instead.
I hate when those signs come out of no where. And why the heck stick it in the middle, why not at the entrance. Oh well, don't complain though the next one they'll stick up is no RC vehicles allowed.:(
:) Small price to pay for hitting a sign.:) Its those guys who hit bulldozers I just don't get.

go look at hes posts on RCU, bit :2guns: agressive there also

sorry borely, but if i read this stuff that hes all about alloy parts, and all the aluminum parts really do is bent break or nothin else then look good, thats just the wrong thing to tell a guy who just smackt his monster, he has other stuff to worry about, as i see on his truck, then aluminum parts, my advice is, just fix it up like you had it and buy 3 times the quantity of plastic parts which are a better deal. if hes about "showcasing" his modell, just buy aluminum parts.
ps. edited my thread up there, sorry..............

Definitely not about showcasing the truck - want to drive it and when it gets broke, fix it. Fixing is half the fun for me:)

Being new - well the advice is welcome and makes sense about buying plastic if the alloy breaks too............so no sweat:mellow:

Trouble is I like it shiny too...........and the bar on the front......well with the nitros I got fed up with plants breaking and bending them - so thought I'd give the MT a bit more upfront to take 'em on.........:)

Fair enough i know what your saying about alloy parts! but the rear uppers are good to have as it reduces flexing so they don`t hit the spur gear. Plastic parts can work out cheaper that`s why i have bought my alloy parts 2nd hand off of ebay on the rear, except for the uppers which are cheap anyway.

Madtrucker,
All I wanted to say was I guess you have a reason to upgrade. I hope you didn't take it the way hitman1985 did, thats not what I meant at all.:) And the bulldozer thing was a little poke at someone else.

but if i read this stuff that hes all about alloy parts.
If you mean me, I'm not a alloy junky or nothing I like them just as much as the next guy. I probably have less alloy then most, I just upgrade when I break something or need the upgrade to fit an upgrade thats all. If you look at his beautiful MT you will see mostly alloy I just thought he would prefer the upgrade thats all. Not trying to kick the guy when he's down. Sorry, if you took it that way, I guess thats the draw backs about posts, you cant get the feeling of what someone is saying.:)

BtB - no sweat at all ....... I'm :cool2: .

I took your comments in the way I think you meant them, in fun(sympathy) - and also recognised the dozer comment from reading the rest of the forum.

I like the alloy - but when I converted this from the Pajero - I had a total plan about adding alloy front end etc. For looks as well as strength, that's my thing, no better, no worse than everyone else.

The whole wreck was simply lack of experience driving the MT, my deal only. I thought I'd share the stupidity of hitting the only abstacle present, when I had plenty of room to miss it, that was all.

With practice I hope I'll get better, so less chance of breaking bits all the time. One thing is for sure - if I'd hit the post with a nitro - I'd have more than just the A arm to replace - and that's if I could find all the bits that flew off:)

As for Hitman1985's comment about 3 times the plastic parts - it makes sense if I break the alloy all the time too and that might happen, this truck is for driving hard - even with the alloy:). So I may end up going back to the plastic in the end.

I've been looking through the forum for a little on a week now - and you guys here know/love these cars, so for me all opinions/advice welcome - I may not agree with them all, but I'll certainly think about them. I'd be pretty stupid to do anything else, nuf said really.

Michael, you gotta understand. Something like that to a LS lover really stick in the mind.
BtB, I made a crack at it too somewhere.... and NOPE, not sorry neither...:clown:

Took about 30 minutes with a vacuum cleaner to get the grass out........now I need a new vacuum cleaner too..........so the wife says, or I could just ask her to use a brush:clap:

Anyway - the way I drive I will be removing more posts than grass from it:laugh:

Still, could be worse - I could be "strength training" it:clown:
