I recently picked up a second hand Traveller. It has a Zenoah 260RC motor with Jetpro pipe. Was toying with the idea of putting Monster Truck tyre and rims on it and was wondering with the larger diameter wheels if I would need to change the pinion and spur gears.

Welcome Craigk:

You could actually change the drive pinion to 14t (I'm assuming you have 16t now).

The pinion spur combination is usually 19t/48t for most clones I believe.

Hobbythek makes a 17t, 18t, 19t, 20t steel pinion for these vehicles:

The shipping to the states on these things runs about 40usd. I'm not sure about Australia.

You might check out www.rcinnovations.co.nz

They have smartech upgrades like this:

Or check out www.powerslideracing.com.au

Stay far away from auctioncityaustralia and oversizerc.com....terrible places for service and shipments.

Thanks for the reply csp1971.
I currently have a 19/48 combination(plastic) that is a bit chewed up. I suspect it could be the fine gravel I was running on. I have been looking at steel gears and was considering a 17t pinion if I put monster truck wheels on it, would a 14t still mesh OK with a 48t spur. Thanks also for the warning about auctioncityaustralia and oversizerc.com.

I have a steel spur gear on mine with the steel pinion and it's great. Those plastic things get eaten quick, at least for me they do.

14t will mesh just fine.
