XRC actually make metal gears to repalce the stock plastic ones.

I have been running the metal gears for about 5 hours runtime and they still look almost new.

$10 for both from Kellets.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Trying Nitrotek in the UK see how much they charge, 10$ for the gears, from what I can see its £17 = 34 AUD just for the large spur gear, n not even sure if thats metal !!
Carnt believe the price of the parts for these 1/5 scale, just paid more for brake pads than I would for my full size car

LOL yeah some things do raise the eye brows. I got the two gears, small one and big one, both metal for $10 australian delievered! Cant complain about that.

Do you have a part number for the kellets gear ?
looked on the web and the only one mentioned there is:

GPM Steel Spur Gear (57T) for HPI Baja 5B More Info
Item code SBJ057T
Price $70.00

Cheers
Karl.

Ok I just got off the phone with Kellets. I don't have any faith with the person I spoke to as he was asking me for a manual even though I told him the alloy gears arnt in a manual only the plastic ones.

Ok the larger gear is now $30 part no. 81412A and the smaller gear is $25 X81408A.

Ill try and find my reciept at home that shows I purcahsed both these gears 3 or 4 weeks ago got both for $10 plus shipping! Cant believe how much its gone up!.

Kellets phone number is 0296022970. Speak to Frank or Terry. There are a couple of people there that have no idea what so ever.

Also if your paying for express post call them the following day to make sure they actually put it in the post. The number of times I have paid for exress post and they forget to mail it I couldnt count. Heaps of times trust me.

just buy a metal pinion an run plastic spurs! if both is metal then u'll have/create next issue friction! is all engine bolts tight an clutch bell carrier/housing secure, bearings good? some xrc kits suffer meshing flaw, yours buggy or car. link below is for buggy, car use 24t
get pinion an few spurs from here

Did have metal pinion and plastic spur, even if plastic spurs are cheaper its not much use if they only last 60 seconds !
Has anybody seen a thread from a guy that put a pair of tie rod ends on the end of the shafts to keep them for separating ? got a link ?
was going to try something similar with a alu block and some proper bearings, maybe then plastic will do.

Yes I have seen that, will have a look and see if I can find a link for you.

Its the smaller gear that strips iteself. Ive got a metal small gear on mine and a plastic large gear, got an alloy as a spare if it strips but ive run 5 litres through mine since buying it only a few weeks ago and the gears look hardly touched, I should get about 15 litres through it before I even need to think about changing them.

I think you may need to check how your gears are meshing and see if there is any play.
