Welcome matey,I personally wouldn't go for a Sheng. For £400.00 you can get a good used FG or Carson(which in my opinion are bullet proof!) You can get Duratrax or FS ,but the Shenqi have a reputation for going pop all the time.
Carson and Duratrax are a clone of FG so parts are available from fleebay ,FS are a clone of MCD but the parts do not come up that often on the auction sites but are cheap as chips new!
As Dwarfy said, take a look at "Other manufacturers" thread it will open your eyes.
Good luck on the future purchase.

i,ve had an sq baja for 3 weeks but trouble out of it, its only just getting reliable after changing a lot of parts to hpi ones, my brother had the sq hummer took it out lastweek all was well untill the throttle stuck in the full open position, we lost sight of it screaming off in to the distance at the end of the field is a huge drop on to a golf course . over the field appeared a golfer holding the truck less 3 of its wheels and only half of its bodyshell, he said he only just got out the way, this truck was fitted with a failsafe we found the throttle had just jammed in the carb . scary:no:

I have the shengqi hummer and I change the radio to a better one right off (DX3R). I had a problem with the body. It was very brittle and it cracked. I have had very little problem with the truck. The only time something broke on the truck, it was my fault and the way I was driving it. I buy duratrax parts for it at my local hobby shop. I put on a few hop ups and it has been a great truck.

You should've been running a pico or "killer bee" kill switch.

we had a 2 hour enduro , and the fg,s broke down after ten minutes,so there not that bullet proof after all.... the hurrax crpton 06 pretty much scored the most laps /partnered with a 5b baja...the enduro was held on a full on rain /and the track was very muddy clay ....
