you could still have a duff plug mate, you can get a nice spark when out but if its weak it could be gettin blown out under compresion!

engine

its got Iridium plug but i could be wrong ill swap it with my spare plug. the engine does look really dirty excessive oil leak around the headgasket and carb yuk hehehehe. is it easy to take a carb apart? whats the factory neddle setting on both the high and low please thx

never took a carb apart so not sure bud as for the settings from all the way in i turned mine out 1 1/2 turns on both and then tweeked it from there, with oil around the head gasket i would say your gasket has blown mate, shoot some pics and post them up and let us see what you mean!

so both high and low neddles 1.5 turns from close? yeah lots of oil where the crankcase and cylinder join

thats what i used mate and mine runs fine.

but i was lookin through the forum and found this -

What are the recommended carburetor needle settings for my engine?
DDM recommends the following tuning as a STARTING POINT for tuning your engine:
G230RC / G260RC / CY23RC / CY26RC / CY27RC / CY29RC / GP290 engines: 1 and 1/4 L, 1 and 3/8 H.

I need to check the plug in my leaf blower... went out to use it, same deal. started but sputtered. turned off choke it stalled never started again. sits on the floor now... so many leaves too and I will not rake them manually. that's what the leaf vac attatchment is for...

oily wetness around the head gasket time to pull the head and throw in a new one...get yourself a inlb torque wrench and tighten the bolts to 61inlb, run for 15mins let it cool and retighten...they should stay tight after that. if you don't change the head gasket you'll not be able to get a good tune and it'll sputter like a bastard.

I used to run platinum and iridium plugs in my mx'ers...waste of bloody money...soon as they get a tiny bit fouled they're garbage and you can't clean them...not worth the money

and Barry don't be so bloody lazy...go fetch the rake and get your missus out there raking them leaves:lol:

While your at it Rix re-ring it as well and the compression will be back again,it'll only cost you about a tenner to ring and gasket it.

Mooman,
What's this about not cleaning Iridium plugs?

I fitted boost bottles for a while and may have fouled my Iridium plug - not sure.
Are you saying you cannot clean once fouled?

I removed the bottles, cleaned a little and hoped to burn off the excess.
