No need to bud......they are an LSD.....(the differential kind)
You can get a full spool and diff locks for them but.....
it will make it nearly undriveable.(how many donuts do you really want to do anyway)

I think lockers are really suited to sand driving.

What do you mean undrivable? My fg truck was locked and she would handle pretty good, didnt turn like it did before with the LSD but man would it fishtale!

A mate of mine got a baja and the diff was dodgy (locked up solid)
All the bloody thing wanted to do was donuts.....normally fun...untill you've done a couple of hundred without wanting to.

I fixed the diff and it handles great.

My diff is pretty loose (non LSD like when not running) but under power it'll lock em up and peel them both no problem.

Theres no need 2 lock the diff but it is fun with an old set of front tyres on the rear leavin fat blackies on the road, it takes a bit to get used to the way it handles in the dirt tho

Some have used silly putty in the diff to nearly lock them up. The thicker the fluid in the diff the closer to a locker it is without being a locker. I have a Vertigo locker and FLM ext arms in my sand car. It takes forever to turn around on asphalt. I switch it out to a diff and no thicker than 7,000wt diff oil when not playing in sand.
Experiment with the oil weights and see which works best for your driving conditions and style.
1,000 is stock. 3,000 7,000 & 10,000 are popular weights. I've seen as thick as 50,000 & 100,000 weights. Your choices are vast. Have fun and enjoy.

I use FG Shock oil in my two diff's rated @ 40,000WT and it handles like its on rails.I just experimented until I found the right one.

10,000 weight seems to be the most popular with the Baja crowd. But, as stated, you can go all the way up to 100,000 or so for more "posi" action. Also keep in mind, the thicker the fluid and more posi action you have, the harder it is on your diff and other rear end parts on high traction surfaces when cornering under power when the diff can't unload as it does with the thinner oil.

It really just depends on how you plan on driving it. For straight line speed runs and sand, I think a locked diff would be a good choice. If you run it on a track or in confined areas, it would probably not be a good choice and you'd be better off experimenting with different weight oils until you get the handling you like.

My driving style consists of a lot of WOT running in wide open dirt lots and I took it to the dunes for the first time the other day and it was really struggling to get the power down in spots so I decided right then that paddles and a diff locker are the next upgrades.

only real area around me is called lil sahara in oklahoma, but its a ways away from me. so most of my driving is just offroad and fields, that sorta stuff.

i had put a new alloy diff in and filled it with the 1000 wt i think it was, and i get really good traction, throws the dirt and loose stuff in the air, rips good double grooves in ground.

whatever wt that was i put in seems to be perfect for round here.

Little Sahara is the closest big dunes to me as well. Well, it's between those and the ones out in West Texas.
