Ok Chaps,
Strange one here, just want to know if anyone has had anything similar.
A few months back I bought a brand new set of RPM front arms for my Baja.
Fitted them no problems, with some brand new pivot balls fitting very nicely into the lower arms.:)

After a few weeks of running I noticed my steering binding a bit, so stripped things down, only to find the pivot ball in the right side arm had got quite tight in the arm causing the binding.:mad:

Swapped it out for an older ball with a little wear on it, and all was well again.......... until yesterday !!!:o
Was cleanin up after sundays bash and noticed the same thing again !!!!
WTF ?? !! Swapped it out again for another older ball with some wear on it and all is perfect again.
BUT...................HOW THE FECK IS THIS HAPPENING ???

As I would expect, the pivot ball in the LEFT arm is gradually wearing (or rather the plastic arm... or both!!) and is gradually exhibiting more play over time.
But my RIGHT side ball appears not to be wearing.... BUT UN-WEARING !!!

I'm pretty sure the military, or possibly NASA would be interested in this technology!!!!
I would just love to know how it is happening though !!!!!:w00t::eek::detective::omg::ohmy::huh:

Sounds like your balls are packing full of Deeside's finest sand from the dust bowl......this will seize em up for fun. You will have to either include it in the strip down clean or maybe the doctor could prescribe some cream for you......:D
 
I agree, your balls are dirty. Clean it off and run again. I would vote against the cream, it just makes them slippery for a short time and picks up filth.

But believe me... IT AIN'T COS OF DIRT !

NONE of the other balls on the whole car (Rear top links or front top, or bottom) are doing this !!

ONLY this one ball in the lower right front arm !!

All the other balls are, as you would expect, gradually wearing and developing a little more play over time.

And when this tightness has occurred I have blasted and cleaned and it doesn't make any difference !!:(

The ball needs replacing with an old "worn" one , and then seems fine !

I'm very confused !

It defies all logic !!!:helpsmilie:

I was wondering if I drove it backwards all day, would it happen to the rear ones ????????????:lol::lol:

It really is bending my brain though !!

Most problems of this nature I can figure out (sometimes after a little head scratching !!).......... but this one just makes NO SENSE AT ALL !!!!!!:mad:

Nope ! Even when removed , cleaned thoroughly (ball and socket) then re-installed, its still tight !:(

The only cure is fitting old (and nearly thrown away!) worn balls ! But I'm rapidly running out of these !!!:mad:

No mate ! Checked all me angles and stuff and all is well.

Usually if your balls are too tightly clamped your voice shifts up an octave !:lol:;)
 
Your right it makes no sense. If you put a worn ball in the socket then it gets tight, what makes the next ball any more worn then the one your using? I have no ideas on this one.

I think maybe RPM have made this one particular arm out of some new experimental organic plastic that re-generates itself when it wears !!!

That would explain it !!!!:lol::lol::lol::D
 
Is there a plastic film on the ball? Wonder if the plastic is rubbing off and making it sticky? May be a bad plastic arm that was never fully cured?
