I have just recently quit racing 1/8 scale and bought a baja I love it but would like to get some more performance out of it what would be the most noticeable upgrades at first

Thanks in advance
jim

As they say, there's no compensation for cubes!! Increase the cc, zenoah big block kits are available, look into getting a jetpro exhaust pipe or something like that, I've always fitted denso iridium sparkplugs and there's a noticeable difference from the normal ngk plug. Use high octane fuel n all, and always remember it's best to have a little too much oil in the mix than not enough should you get the 25:1 mix a little wrong.. After all that ya looking at crankshafts, carbs, porting and the likes!!
Anyway, hope that's a little insight into it, I'm sure you'll have hours of fun with it!

the number one performance upgrade for any motor would be a tuned pipe that has the power curve to fit your driving needs.

tThanks for the info guys I have been looking into the uberc predator pipe but can't seem tp find a difference have already put:( a e3 plug in and noticed a big difference in throttle response also just bought a 8000 rpm clutch setup but have not installed it yet as I was told that it causes the clutchbell retaining bolt to break

broken pinion bolts (what you called the bell retaining bolt) can be fairly commen. one of the best options is to use a grade 12.9 bolt. also make sure the pinion is setting flush and true on the notch of the clutch bell. take the setup out of the carrier, put them together, and check to see the mesh between the bell and pinion is tight and not setting off kilter a bit. this can lead to quickly broken pinion bolts. also make it tight, but don't overtighten it. this also is a leading cause of broken pinion bolts.

another option is to drill out the holes, and retap the bell for a larger SAE #10-24 bolt. 10 is the SAE Size, and 24 is the thread count. then install a 12.9 grade #10-24 bolt to hold the pinion to the bell.

thanks timmahh i will check that out while im installing the clutch spring and shoes good info very much appreciated

Today I put high ovtane fuel the 8000 rpm spring and lightened shoes took the stock stinger off the stock can and it made an incredible difference like a whole different animal

I agree a clutch that engages at higher rpm is better...to a limit of course. The right pipe can work wonders with the most important part it being the right volume and the distance from the head to the widest part of the pipe, or were it converges, a 1/4 inch difference here can make a big difference and most pipe manufactures have a good set distance built in already but you can somewhat effect how much rpm and torque you get and where it is in the powerband. Lastly if you go with larger size engines and larger pipes, your intake, carb and fuel lines must be able to handle the increased flow or you will not get the full benefit out of the other mods. Think of it as a pinched garden hose...the pinched section will limit the total flow that can be achieved. You always want to balance your intake setup to your exaust and try to do them both at the same time, just like in the full size world.
