FTX won UK natioal , every race within top 10 , at least you can find 5 FTX in race result.
It depends what engine you use on the FTX, the standard for FTX Punisher is 23CC CY engine. and Optioal gear for more top speed is also available .

WOW .. the FTX is kicking butt!

I'm tossing up whether to upgrade my FG Marder 2WD to 4WD .. or if to sell it and get a nice NEW FTX ..

Any of you nutech guys going to convince me?

I had decided to go for a Baja and had a 5B 2.0 lined up with 20mins run time... I was going to buy it, when someone offered me a completely tricked up SS.. it was a very good spec so I went for it.

But unfortunately I got it today and it was fraught with problems and I took it back for my money back.

The original 5B that I was going to buy is now sold, so I its back to the drawing board.

My colleague got sucked into the whole Baja thing and he just bought a 5T on Ebay and he is very happy.. And for £600 he seems to have got quite a nice deal...

I am holding out for a 5B, but I still can't get the idea of a Punisher out of my head.. It just seems very good value for money!

Looks like I have a bit of thinking to do.

I would have gone with the nutech (former Nutech owner) over the Baja but that is just me.
The baja is great because it is like the Slash of 1/5th scales. If someone owns a 1/5th scale then it is most likely a baja and because of this if you find a 1/5th scale track thent here will be many with bajas to race a class or two.
My problem with Rwd (especially the baja) is that no one drives one correctly. People go "ooh" rwd I can go through the turns with flare! Powerslide powerslide! But that is not how you race them. You have to slow down more and go slower through the turns plus you have to race clean with others which means you can use flare unless your way ahead of the person behind you. Plus Flare normally slows you down more.

However there are some Rwds that are VERY planted... Like the Elcon Cleon. Wow that thing is Rwd and it is on RAILS! I'm hoping the Nutech Diablo is the same way.
But racing aside I think you made a good choice... Both the Nutech and the baja are good choices.

Edit: just noticed your last post.
Get the punisher. it is DURABLE and handles well! If you break a nutech then you screwed up/abused the hell out of it (like 20 foot jumps landing front first)

IMO the Baja excels at sand/dunes... The thing is so light it glides over the sand and unlike 4wd it stays above the sand especially in turns! 4wd on sand sort of digs it self in

Thanks for all your advise, but just to give you an update I went for a Baja...

Now the first thing to remember, is that I don't race and don't have any intention of doing so.. I am not even really interested in taking it to a 'track'.. I just want it for 'bashing'.

My colleague just bought a 5T and as soon as I had a go, it reminded my why I love RWD.. It was just so satisfying, flicking the back-end out and kicking up dirt... And whilst I havn't driving a large scale 4WD, I decided that the Baja was for me.

Its taken me a few weeks to buy a suitable model.. First I bought one from a guy locally off Ebay who claimed it was 'immaculate' and had £1500 of upgrades and £500 of spares.. And it was a mess.. Almost every screw was wrong and there were bits hanging off.. I got it home, started it and the flywheel jammed (apparantly a screw fell out).. And that was after 10 seconds, so I took it back and got my money back.

I finally settled on pre-built SS with several Uber upgrades, but it had never been run.. Its had its share of problems (minor) and its getting there.. Its almost built and once my KillerBee arrives, I will be out there.

Thanks again for your help with this.. I still like the look of the Punsiher and who knows, I might get the bug again and will go out and buy one.. But we will have to see..

All the best

ENJOY THE BAJA MATE!, I WENT TO A BASH YESTERDAY,MUST OF BEEN 40+ cars, around 25 largescale,i had a km baja(hpi clone) which i think are alright ,but there were a few ftx's there and they are mint!
regardering having loads of different cars , i had 5 largescale buggys in the last 7 months,i always took out my favourite and would upgrade my 2 favourites,i just didnt have time for all the buggies, i just thought it would be cool to have loads, but just took up space,if i wanted a ported engine and pipe for all 5 models then that would have cost thousands, then tyres etc,i did spend alot on each one,on some more then others.I have now cut down to my two favourites, i sold the km baja(2weeks ago), fg monster(a few months ago) and my fg touring car will do tommorrow! now i have my fg marder and hormann tk09,one basher 1 racer, thats plenty for me and i can put all my cash into these two meaning i can do what i want straight away,if i had the km and fg on road,i wouldnt use them now i have the ht2.just made sense. i think when it comes down to it,2 are plenty, my ideal 2 car collection would be my tk09 and a mcd rally/rr.
