a quick vid of me running in the new race ported g260rc with a 668 carb set at 1.5 turn out on the hi needle and 1.1/4 turns out on the low with a ddm top end pipe on my all alloy fg mt i just finshed building, gearing is 16/48, 16/48.

i got to run 4 tanks thru it friday had a blast, it still need a little bit more of a tune but its running well, i mangae to bust one body post, and after a while i busted one steering rod, the ball end split, but i keep drive it running it off one steering servo and one steering rod, but just at the end of the 4 th tank i did a decent flip and that was the en of that.

so i might take another ruber o-ring of the alloy servo saver and just keep 2 on there and see how i go, if i keep busting the steering rod ends ill go to another type mabe off the hpi baja or some thing simular, but to be honest i expected this to happen as its all alloy there is no give, but all in all im very happy a few more tweaks and it sould eb great.

the g260rc is a fine motor, but it do not have the low to mid punch my g270rc had, the g260rc seams to have more top end, but this head as been race ported, but the g270rc i had in this truck had more punch from off the line and more punch mid throttle, but i was also running a 813 carb on the g270rc and this race ported g260rc has a 668 carb, so its hard to say 100% either way as both set ups where slighly difrent but i do think the g270rc is stronger low to mid.

the motor needs a couple of more tanks thru it to free up, then ill might give it a little tweak on the tune, its not doing wheelies on demand yet but on full what the front wheels are only just touching the ground and you can oftern see light from under the front wheels, i managed to pull a few wheelies and my wife when she was driving pull one around 30 meters long, pitty it wsnt caught of film.

here are a couple of quite vids

these vids where taken with a small exhaust leak at the header and the engines tune isnt dailed in yet so i think it still has got the potential to wheelie.

i also have toe in on the front wheels i forgot to adjust out befor i took the truck out on friday, and i have a fair bit of positive camber on the rear wheels, i will adjust this to netural as i feel i can improve take off traction and top speed with doing this

its not even tuned yet and its lifting the front wheels up, yes it 4 kg heavyer then it was stock and pulling wheelies, but its still pulling the odd wheelie now and full power its still squatting and you can see light from under the front wheels in most driving conditions.

its not tuned 100% its at factory carb settings for an hpi baja lols so i think this engine yet still has more power to offer as its still got a bit of bog on the low end and is a little slugish down low and its still blowing smoke witch motual 2t oil normaly don't, so its still a little ritch, i think the race porting is giving it more fuel then it would stock with the same carb settings.

i also feel its still a little tight so a few more tanks it will loosen up as i found the last zen motor it wasnt till around after 8 tanks till the engine came good, this engines is only 5 tanks old so once i stop the exhaust leak run a few more tanks it will imporve again.

to me its still posible and if you wait for the next few vids im sure you will see it will go harder yet >:D

as a few guys out there would know its still got potential with the carb settings is at now, with the set up ive got now ddm even suggest a lower starting point on the h and neddles to run it in at then ive running it now

and since im using a bigger carb then what the stock g260rc motr comes with and the race ported head is giving it more fuel i think i can go lower (leaner) on the carb settings and get more power out of this set up will out killing it

Great video and awesome reading :) Did you notice a big improvement over the stock G260 after installing this ported head?

Keep these threads coming!

to be honest i never ran the stock g260rc in this truck and last time i drove a g260rc was in a 1/4 scale sprint car so i can say 100% it made any improvement,

but ill say it has made an improvemnt with the race ported head and the 668 carb instead of the 603 carb, but race porting is very mild, it seams to be giving the motor more fuel,

the trouble with race porting is that its very mild, so in race conditions the car will have enough fuel to finsh a 30 minuet main final race, so bash ported motors where you don't have to worry about fuel comsuption will go alot harder.

im getting a bash ported g260rc head done in new zealand its will be alot more wild then this one, with much more port work, lightend ported piston and the porting and timming will be done to suit my fg ddm top end pipe and so on

if you want to have a look at the difence between the stock g260rc head and the race ported g260rc head have a look at this post i made earlyer

i think you guys are right, but ill keep the 16 tooth layshaft gear in there, sine the carb tune is still ritcher the factory carb settings and there still room for improvement.

my last motor with a 16 tooth layshaft had better bottom end but it was tunned well and the g270rc had more low and mid punch then this race ported g260rc motor, the g270rc would wheelie still, also i noticed my ddm top end pipe outlet was 40% blocked, so ive drilled it out, its got even more top end now.

ill give it a few more tanks to free up the motor and ill give the carb settings a tweak as i know i can improve the bottom end of this motor since carb settiings are ritch and i think top end might be ok where it is but its still ritch, but is i adjust the low it will even the high out, but it is hitting around the 80kmh mark now (50 mph) once shes up and going.

its faster then a worked baja 5b with a pipe, but being a tuck it cant do power sides and donuts, i would like to get some other large scale cars together and do some drag racing cause in a straigh line this fg mt goes well

after pulling the truck down for a check over and so on, i noticed some thing i didnt pick up on befor, the plastic diff protector that sits infornt of the diff was realy tight against the diff and the wheels where dam hard to turn buy hand :-[, i removed the diff protector and the wheels easy whoos it would of stressed the clutch and slowed down the take of a little :-[
