So, I got my XT from UPS on Thursday the 16th! It is REALLY nice! Well packaged for shipping...it's a SOLID piece! Well, I went away on Friday and Saturday, so I didn't get to break it in till Sunday. So, followed several "Break in" vids on YouTube and followed the instructions in the manual. Well, first tank that I could get on it some...there was a ugly noise and then it started to slow down! Well, here's what happened!

So, I guess I have to try and get this warrantied! It looks like the nut on the "bottom" gear backed off! It did some damage, that's for sure!

I absolutely LOVE this truck! It is really awesome! I'm sure this will get taken care of by Redcat! I'll keep you posted!

Peace,

Mike

PS. How do I get ahold of Redcat warranty? LOL

That's too bad. I would use the opportunity to upgrade the gear plate. It's a week spot on the x series.

1+ yes it is upgrade to the aluminum plate or the thicker MT plate and don't forget to locktite your gear screws.

Ok, where would I get those pieces?

Should I even try and get this covered under warranty? I did NOTHING to cause this! I don't mind paying for the upgrade...but it sucks I got 15 mins of "Real" fun before it broke...

Trying to warranty of course that would have to be your decision I am not sure if its under warranty or not I know that it happened on my XT and XB so I just upgraded the plates and the bearings and we have been good since. You can use this plate http://www.redcatracing.com/RC-Cars/Redcat-Parts/710007 and use the same size bearings that you are using now but the bearings were the plate melted will not be any more good so you will have to get a new bearing to replace that. Or you can use the MT plate metal or plastic and you will have to use the bigger bearings for that plate which even give more support.

Thanks guys!

Now, that part...710007 is the METAL version?

I sent the warranty form to Redcat and will wait to see what they have to say. I'm gonna try to upgrade to the metal one through Redcat...and I have $75 credit towards any purchase from Redcat that I got when I ordered the XT. BUT, if not, I'm getting it from you RCDad!

Well, it didn't melt...it just broke. The bearings look ok, but I may get new ones just to be safe! :D

That sucks. TO RC Dad's point, now might be the time to upgrade. You could ask Redcat if they'll credit you for the cost of the stock part towards the Aluminum upgrade. Worse they can say is no.

Well, look at the bright side, your gears and bearings are still functioning. When this happened to me( I was running an OBR 30.5 Prostock engine though) the MT plastic gearplate broke apart and the gears stripped to nothing. Best to get alum. gearplate, especially if you think about getting an engine with more HP.

Welcome to the forum sorry to see what happen. now would be a good time to go and loctite ( blue ) all the metal to metal bolts and nuts on your XT when you get the new gear plate loctite those nuts real good because they come loose alot

Hello

Hello, first things first I am new to posting here, but have been reading here for about a year now. I was going to buy a rampage XT last year, but something came up and could not at the time. I bought one last week and got it yesterday, and before I ran it checked every metal to metal screw and put threadlock on them. I have been going easy on the break in and today on the fourth tank started to kick butt. I just started to give it short full throttle runs when it started to feel sluggish on take off and I knew from reading just about every post on here something was about to break!

I took off the gear cover first and sure enough it broke in the same spot. Only I think I got it in time before any gears went crazy. I knew this was going to happen so I ordered a metal one along with other things (kill switch, servos)

My question here is DDM shipped out the kill switch, and the metal diff plate I ordered from RC PIT STOP last week, but I never got a e-mail that it shipped, and I tried to contact them two times, but have not got a reply.

Does anyone know if that shop is still around or what?

Thanks!

After a week plus of going back and forth with Redcat warranty, the parts are on the way! I got the upgraded Aluminum gear plate. The parts will be here tomorrow! Started taking it apart last night...I can't get the one gear off! Seems like it's stuck on the gear shaft! I'm gonna try to get it off by driving the shaft through the gear. The fun part of RC ownership! LOL

Same thing happened to me last Thursday on my fifth tank of gas so I filled out the warranty claim yesterday and waiting to hear back
