ive never run one, one guy that i run with had one but it was problematic. the way they come geared give you better acceleration with the same top speed. this is good if you have traction to spare, but may not work so well if you don't have tons of bite. gearing can always be changed though. another note with a 2 speed is you will lose all engine braking due to the one way bearing in 1st gear and pawl clutch design for 2nd gear. this can be good or bad, depends on how you look at it. on a tight track engine braking can be an asset, however a long open track it will allow you to coast more and keep up more speed, basicly help keep your driving smoother. it does come down to personal preference though, i myself like the engine braking, you don't need to be as aggressive on the brakes, although others prefer to have more control with the brakes. interestingly enough fg makes a gear hub with a one way bearing for single speed so you can eliminate engine braking without having to go to a 2 speed.
