I'm a newbie to 5th scale and I'm looking for a used marder. Do I want a 23cc or a 26cc engine? I hope to race it. What really is the difference. What about a 29? thanks

The smaller the engine, the more RPM. The bigger the engine, the less RPM and more torque off the line. This is by far a very brief description.

It's also about the gearing and the exhaust you use.

If I were you. i would go with a 26. You get a happy middle point. I've got a 23cc in my on-road, but it's an on road, it's light and it has a 2 speed transmission. On my MCD, I used to have a 26cc and it was pretty fast, but it is a heavy ass buggy, so i put the 29cc with the same gearing, and it weighs almost 30lbs if i were to guess. It takes off quicker, but the top speeds are relatively similar.

What type of racing are you going to do? I would check with the track and check your race rules. Most racing is done with a 23cc.
There is not a huge difference between the 23 and 26.

if your looking for a used marder then the older they are you will find

a 23cc engine in them as standard:(as its maybe the last 5or6 years

FG have been using the 26cc for the marder and also the leopard

not much in it but go for the 26cc :)rules in england for on road is 23cc

id go with a Zen 26. if your racing (i assume in Europe area) the limit on motor for offroad is 26ccs i think.
