You want a ported or torque ported top end. I had a high rev top end on an fg 530 and the bottom end was not desirable. It lost the bottom end punch and tbh I couldn't tell if it revved higher as I didn't have a tach on it. A good ported top end on a 26cc will rev to the moon.

Which top end do you recommend for the 26cc? Additionally, should I put a reed case or striker crank on it or leave it stock?

I ran nothing but esp top ends with stuffer cranks, I'd go high torque or championship ported if it's offered for a 26cc. Bigger isn't always better, I had 2 5ives setup for the track and both were built equally while one was a 32 and the other was a 30.5 and I'd swear that 30.5 could run down my 32. You want to go faster mess with gearing, you'll most likely see 18-19k rpm flat out with a 26cc also look to get the 3rd bearing in the case to support the crank for higher revs.

Thanks for the info and for sharing the video. Sounds like I’ll be going with a 26cc race ported or 29cc “high torque” championship ported. Don’t seem to find one on DDM with a 26cc Championship ported. There is a 30.5cc but think that might be too much for the formula one.

Eh everyone will have their own opinion, it's good for racing where your bound by rules on engines. If you want it for the eye candy factor then sure. I get it everyone wants the best that money can buy, but esp is a cheaper option the will produce the same if not similar results.

Probably not allowed in racing rules , and may just make it harder to drive for bashing.
No idea how fine the balance is between traction and power on these, but I would be tempted to try it stock first to see how it drives.
