hey guys i've made a few perivous threads thought be better to make single ones now instead of adding to my first one and causing confusion lol.

a few of the senior members bigger the better dwarfy and streetwise took a look at my photos and beleive my pinion gear is worn and the clutch bell i'm still a little confused :) well i think ill get some new pinion gear but what ratio should i go for, the engine is a 29cc it apparently has a 29cc head on it with new piston and rings. at the moment it has a 23t pinion gear and i think a 21t spur gear. is this surficient for the power?

also the bit behind the pinion gear and the plastic guard can spin about a quarter of a turn freely and also makes the noise of a bell when i flick it with my finger.

as always thanks so much to everyone who has helped with advise over the other threads i have posted :D

if its parking lot racing or they have a novice class they may not care about engine size.

stock gearing for an fg touring car is 40/24, and keep in mind thats with a 23cc. with my 26cc i find im running out of gear of our relitivly short straits, i have a 39/25 to put in. there taller yet, the 38/26 combo, however the 38 tooth spur needs a different gear carrier.

i would recommend trying the 39/25 combo. if your going to start racing id recommend getting the 39 and 40 spur along with a 23, 24, and 25 tooth pinion. because of the way fg designs the gearing you can run any of those 3 pinions with any of those spur gears. this will allow you to fine tune the gearing to the track.

hey i keep getting my counting wrong i just been out and counted both gears the pinion is a 23t (the small one) just incase i called it the wrong thing and the large spur gear is a 41t from what i have read that is pretty odd combinaton! i just don't want to run the car and blow the engine to bits or all the clutch or something.
yaa i didnt really intend to get seriously into racing just always wanted one of these cars to have fun with :)

so does getting a 39/25 combo mean the torgue of the engine wont rip everythign to bits or is that quite unlikely whichever gear you have on it? thaanks guys :)

For most of the uk tracks, you will find that 24,39,15,48 will be just fine.

Can you post a photo of your car.

How seriously are you going to race? club, BRCA National, EFRA European level or all 3?

you wont rip the drivetrain apart in a touring car (its really the same as an mt) you will just spin the tires. 41/23 isnt so much odd, its geared for a short track. whats more odd is the 29cc in a touring car, i myself find the 26 to be too big and want to throw a 23cc top end on to get the higher rpm.

hey yaa thats what i have been hearing, i just saw it for sale and being unfamiliar with large cars thought ooo 29cc must be better because its big, on the adverts from the person who sold it to the person who sold it to me ( weird chain i know) said it had been used for racing hmm but as you say its odd. i wish there was someone on here whos from sussex who could take a look for me its a big ask i know oo and someone to just go race them about with lol.

there only way to know for sure what motor it is would be to get the casting numbers off the cylinder. if you can look for any numbers that are cast into it, post them up and we can help decode if it is for sure a 29cc or not. aside from the numbers there is no way to know for sure without taking the motor apart and measuring the bore. everything 23-30.5cc interchanges on zenoah and cy engines, so stickers on the fan cover or pullstart don't mean anything

hey guys yaa on the other thread i started up i posted some numbers i spotted which were 2070 one of the guys said he had the same numbers stamped on his 26cc, but yaa apparntly the piston and rings in it is new, today i ran it for the first time properly, did half a tank and didnt go to ull revs because the piston apparently being new.
sounded ok when i left it idelling for a while it sometimes sounded like it was gonna go off but kept going just a slow relaxed burble think thats normal? and when running had some smoke coming out the exhaust which got more with the faster it went think thats normal too?

hey i know its in the wrong section but i've just purchased some front disk brakes for my touring car, will upload some photos when i get them and hopefully fit them all ok lol

heey yaa i have looked at a few websites mainly the ones you posted for me on one of the threads here :) and been asking about around my local area have found a local sussex one so hopefully may start racing soon :)
