2wd vs 4wd Comparison

I can say the 4WD is much better to drive. I haven't tried my 4WD Baja with monster wheels but I find with the standard Marder style wheels it performs excellent. I've owned the FG MT and MB and driving the 4WD is a huge differance. Once I stud the KCR tractor tires and the snow comes let the mayhem begin!!

The only cons I can say right now is the 4WD is harder to work on, but if funds allow go with the comp version and you will love it!!

2WD Drive is awesome for bashing on grass.. but with the big heavy vehicles you have much better air control with 4WD...

Ok with my Marder coming along nicely I'm dying to get another one now to get back to off road. I decided to stay the FG route, but i cant seem to make up my mind on this 2wd vs 4wd. I like the idea of the fish tailing with the 2wd but then i like the idea of being able to climb with all four wheels moving. Then I thought about just doing 2wd and just going with a balls to the wall motor to make up for 2wd. I'm racking my brains out here fellas. So its either the 2wd Monster Truck or Jeep or the 4wd Monster Truck or Jeep. (not Comp) I need more advice.

Ya, know what you mean. That will be one nice truck either way. I was hoping to someday get a 4wd so I could understand more the difference. I was hoping the rampages problems would be greatly improved by the time I get the money together. Its great you get the chance to buy a new ride. Good luck and post it up when it arrives.

4WD yes but I'd go for the Beetle body, much more durable than the MT one. I've had both and ther Beetle body I had has been through 5 owners and still going!!

although i don,t own fg...

my baja 2wd with locker diff is fun , but my 4wd has fantastic traction..rips of the line better and does high speed turns in a breeze..i have seen a few fg,s and i,d go for the 4wd model much better handling....but if you want some big power slide outs then the 2wd is the go

I was thinkin about convertin my marder to 4wd for drag racing also but I'm not sure about that yet. I really think that 4wd off the line would be a great idea.

for drag racing i,d stick with the 2wd as it would be heavier being a 4wd..also if you just want it for drag racing might not be that good as the engines you get for these cars are limited ...

you can put nutech alloy one piece diff cases from the tb1 in with fg internals, spider pin just needs 3mm grinding off and then you'll have sealed diffs, then if you want tail out with the 4wd just put 100000wt lube in the back and 10000 in the front...you'll be able to fishtail and drift all you want. cases are $65 each and are a direct fit:)

sold. I want some. does Scott carry them? I know 4 cars in dire need off hand

For me there is no substitute for that sideways action. Ive heard also that the 2wd are easier to steer as you can sorta just flick it around the corners, only you get a grasp of throttle control u can u turn on a dime.

I you like straight line driving then doing 180 degree U turns, fish tailing a lot from side to side then go 2WD.

If you like control driving, then 4WD is the go.

They are both fun, no doubt about it.

If you are going to use a JEEP shell, then only a 4WD should be the vehicle.

The only reason I never got a Tamiya wild willy, was that it was a 2WD JEEP, otherwise the model looks awesome but was a little ackward to see a 2WD jeep.

Here are my GAS vehicles....and 1 of 4 HPI savages
