has anyone ever had experience with modle 4 stroke engines?

i only say this as i saw somone down the track today running some kind of beetle buggy style car and it had a 4 stroker in it! and it sounded like a propper beast chugging along, he was just leaving as i arrived so didnt have a chance to ask him about it.

it looked like it had immence amounts of torque thro the corners, and was powering thro them all(it was even poping micro wheels on take off), but on the straights or long corners it didnt have enuff RPM to keep up with the 2t's and was being left behind.

here is why i ask, i don't know if anyone has seen the "gimik" mini super chargers you can get for 1/8th nitro cars.

i know that any kind of supercharger/turbo wont work on 2t style engines(inc nitros) as both ports are open at the same time so it cannot hold any boost.

now ive also seen a hpi baja on youtube with 2 of these super chargers,i don't know how it preforms as never a vid of it moving but i imagen it dosnt work to well? but i will eat my words if proven wrong

but i can see 2x mini superchargers working on a 4t engine, but i wouldnt know what to expect,as i havnt worked on a 1/5th 4t engine.

would i be wasting my time? or are the 4ts always gonna be left behind due to the lack of RPMs?

just seems like an intresting project

That's interesting. There are small 4 stroke in lawn & garden tools to comply with California law. I could see them expanding into the hobby market. A nice blown 60cc would be wicked.

If you have the torque, you can make up for rpm loss with gearing.

I have a few weedeaters and blowers that are 4-stroke I been scratching my head at them thinking damn i want to try on on my MT :) Im sure its possible. Just have not had too much play time lately since the Hurricane devastated my area :(

has anyone ever frankensteined one of those 4stroke Airplane engines into a truck? i know they are setup to bolt in from the bottom, so an engine mount would have to be fabricated to work but im sure if u had the resources and the time it can work fine.. im a fan of two strokes from the heart but i do also have a fourstroke quad and she has tourque for daaaays.. plenty of top end also.

4 stroke

I just bought a Dune Runner so when it arrives I will be looking at putting a 4 stroke in it. I happen to have two brothers that work for Novak in UT (Novak makes shafts to join just about any engine/tranny combo for Jeeps). One of them happens to just have purchased a Honda 4 stroke for his power screed so I have the engine to see if it fits. A lil R&R and it just might happen. If it does work we will be makeing the parts to bolt them in! Anyone have any suggestions on other 4 stroke engines to look at? I'll start a thread and post some pics as it comes along. I am not that familiar with the Redcat set up yet and will look at the HPI Baja setup as well to make this same thing for them.

I would like to see a rotary engine fit in. As they have minimal moving parts small in size rev hard and can be supercharged or turbo charged. Im not a Mazda fan but a small rotary would be interesting.
