mini four strokes

I have a honda gx35 engine on my weed eater and it looks like it would probobly be a good candidate for a swap into a 1/5 scale , there is also the

Robin Subaru EH035. They are the most popular 4 cycle engines out there

and you really cant beat either of them for reliabilty . I think it would be a nice swap although they are not as powerful as the two strokes in stock form , but isnt that the glory we all look for.... modifying something ? Having something different ? then there is also the shindaiwa 2cycle/4cycle hybrid, where the engine actualy pulls the intake charge into the crankcase (like a 2 stroke) , but the tranfer ports are behind an overhead valve, and is the exhaust.they claim that it causes a supercharging effect.I have heard one of the run and it sounds like a cross of both 2 and 4 cycle... .I think all of these engine are a viable option. here is a link for the hybrid engine

Soon as we see a drop in 4 stroke for these cars we're gonna see a real supercharger. Personally, I'd love to have a super charged 4 stroke and then run twin pipes out the back. These 2 stroke tuned pipes are not the most eye appealing thing in the world.

I just checked the honda gx35 and the mounting bolt pattern is 1/2" too big and takes a much bigger clutchbell. The Honda GX25 bolt pattern is the same as what we run. Also the Robin Subaru 25 has the same bolt pattern and clutch. It should drop right in if a rear mounting bracket was made.

I know these motors are rated at only 1.1 HP at 7000 RPM but I'm sure we can push em to 16k easy. For $210 it's worth some fooling around:

thanks deamon and mxzrider i will be looking into a 4 stroke but i don't know how soon the low hp has got me worried and i know the motors will most likely weight more than the 2 stroke. so i don't know what i will do i wish i had another mt to just work on and try things out on without taking the one i run apart know what i mean

Maybe silly to suggest but is there a rotary that would fit they rev. And can be super or turbo charged. Would definetly be different. :D

Os engines have one to fit rc planes /4.97 cc / 1.27hp @17,000rpm / 11.8 oz [335 g] . This is one that i found today just a thought.

The pros of a 4 stroke is the torque the y produce over a 2 stroke and eff is also another pro but the oiling may be difficult to get around cause if u roll the truck u better shut it down quick or you could do some severe damage!

It would have to be a scream'n 4 stroke to be a drop in, not a dog that only rev's to 8000 rpm.

The hopped up 2 strokes are running 6000 - 20,000 rpm. That's how they can get up to the 40mph range on a single gear ratio. A low revving 4 stroke would need at least a 3 speed tranny to get any real speed. This means more wait. :(

it won't rip. with a blower certainly gives more but hard to beat simple and hot!

weight would be an issue ..all the way down the drive line!

prolly be a better tow setup for my skateboard pulls.. like an MT with low ratio set up, XB just fries the tires when i gas it on transitions.

i would do the swap for sure on an MT

I was thinking more torque less hp. maybe a 25/35 gear swap? super charger? to compliment the torque that the 4 cycle makes. Not really into top speed, i have other vehicles for that. torque is what i desire. and something different.

and it just sounds like a cool project.

It would be really cool for a large scale crawler.

Even with the gear swap it might see 15 mph. ;)

As long as were dream'n, a little diesel would also be cool. Just no pull start please. :D
