4wd offroad beetle question

Hi, I've been thinking of buying this model. my question is, is it a viable racer? I want to get into 5th scale offroad racing and was thinking of getting the marder or leopard, but I really want the beetle. I was just thinking I wouldn't be able to compete with it. Also I was wondering about the older marder style version vs. the new one.

The marder 2wd has not changed. The marder and beetle are basically the same chassis so they will perform identical. The only difference between the marder and beetle 2wd is the body and the beetle has an undertray. The 4wd is the same chassis also but may have some small parts that are different but the performance would be the same.

When u say racing do u mean competition or for fun ,
in belgium the rules say only Rear-wheel drive allowed .

don't know how the rules are with u guys.
