Hi, I have a Rovan 5b and have put the twin outlet exhaust and steel bumper. It's made it a quite heavy at the rear and squats when running. Should I worry? change springs/oil etc

Cheers

Have you adjusted the collar on the rear shocks to compensate for the added weight? Is it the steel bumper with wheels on it? That one is heavy. I bought one for S&G's but have not tried to mount it yet. The stock springs and shocks are a bit on the soft side so a change in springs may help. You can find those on the DDM Racing website.

+1 to the harder springs.
too much of preload to set the ride height is not good either. i have my springs made in a local shop, since it would have been too expensive from DDM. (shipping cost, import tax, local VAT... etc)

I'm in Australia and some parts a bit hard to come by. How much (mm) would be too much adjustment on the preliod?

Hpi racing had a set of hard (blue) springs available but not sure if they are available any more?
I’ve used them on my Baja and they are better then the ddm springs imo

@DougStar is in South Australia.
He might know of somewhere local.
I'm in QLD.
Where are you?
In Mildura. Only really ebay and hobbies direct and predator. They are out of stock or only have stock stuff when I've looked. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Harder springs? Wtf guys, idk, maybe there are different stock shocks in baja but the cheapest rovan one, 29cc at least have just a little too hard stock rear springs and waaay too hard on the front.
Also front is way too progressive but thats kist matter of geometry so i don't think u can fix that.
For proper sag u have to have zero preload on shocks. So stock reaes are fine for aggressive driving /jumps and if u don't mind high suspension setup.
I fixed rear by drilling additional mounting points on rear suspension arms closer to arm pin.
That way stock too hard springs are perfect and as bonus you also gain quite a bit of suspension travel, which those 1/5 scale desperately need :)
