I am looking at buying a 5b but am concerned about the ground clearance. Is it just putting on t a arms and some new axles to get more clearance or what all would need to be done?

king motor has a entire kit with body to convert a 5b to a t for about 140 bucks that u can look at to see what u need,, otherwise most forums have info on doing the conversion,, its side pods added,, different body mounts, front bumper , truck body,, no suspension or axle changes because they are both the same,,,, but u would need to get 5t tires and wheels,, ,, only other major change would be the drive gear in the tranny,, a buggy has a 20 tooth,, and a truck has a 19 tooth for lower gearing to compensate for the 5t taller tires,, that is where u get a little more ground clearance,,, the tires,, I have some pics on here of mine that did the conversion too,, tires and wheels will run at least 160 bucks,, not to mention several hundred in parts for sure from hpi,,

Ok i was really most concerned about ground clearance as i like the looks of the buggy more anyway. It almost looks as if the trucks jump better than the buggies do as well which i was also hoping to achieve. Thanks for the info though!

if your plans ultimately are lots of jumping,, I would do some upgrades to help stiffen the chassis,, a front brace for sure,,, stiffer shock springs,, oil change in them,, probably piston change too,,, for starters,,

Trucks bash. Baja's jump.
Often the weight of the tires will limit the trucks. They come out too heavy. If you get a good jump then damage will occur more often to a truck than will a Baja. Bajas can be upgraded with big bore shocks and suspension upgrades. Sure the trucks can jump but they work better knocking down walls, trees, big rocks, etc. Baja's not so much. Race ready and wheel stands all day.

Are you referring to the Baja? As far as I know the difference between 5B & 5T are rear wheel dimensions, body and plastic to mount the body. All hardware parts are shared between them so big bore shocks for the B will fit just fine on the T.

The SC has some upgraded parts over the T and B but can be fitted to the other two. :)
