Guys

Would appreciate your thoughts. Had another blast on the 5ive yesterday with the family. My son asked me to shut it down because the noise was giving him a headache, and he didn't want a go at the wheel (which he normally does). I also have to accept that the thing weighs 5 times less than my e-revo but sometimes with the boggy acceleration it feels 5 times slower!

The brushless conversion plus decent lipos is going to cost 6-700GBP which I can't afford to shell out having bought the truck in the first place.

I could sell the truck on Fleabay, and I would probably get enough to do a direct swap for a Maverick Vader XB and some decent 3S lipos.

I've experience with Maverick stuff at 1:10. It's not HPI / Losi standard but it's okay for the low end bashing round a field that I do.

What do you think? I have a niggling feeling I would kick myself if I sold my 5ive and the costs of brushless conversion fell in the next year.

Thx

N

I'd definitely look into a longer-term project and look at the various electric options if I were you.
Cheap ear plugs are one solution.
There's little of the same caliber as the 5ive on the market - even the 5SC isn't quite as good - it's THAT good (read I'M JEALOUS!!)
IMO DO NOT sell it!!
You'll be replacing it with an inferior product.

Just my $0.02!!

Al.

I think you are giving up to soon. You will regret it and end up getting another one in the very near future.

As for your son, I don't me to be mean but really...too loud. I'm sorry Bro. I have a 19 month old toddler that loves when I bring it out my Losi 5ive. You gotta get him use to it. My little guy use to be afraid of the electric RCs because of the metal gears and their noise. I just kept bringing around and then he got use to it. Don't coddle the boy, he's a boy. Ear plugs are a good idea! I may consider that also since some of the other pipes out there are stupid loud. LOL!!!

What pipe are you running? If it's one of the loud and fast ones, try a quieter one. I'm running a JetPro rear-mounted pipe. The noise doesn't make my ears bleed like the other pipes do. I think it's a little quieter than the stock can. That could be a consideration. Good Luck!!!

Thanks Guys,

I think I probably would regret selling the 5ive in time. I'll wait and see what comes in terms of upgrades. I remember when the Baja 5b came out and it was quite a while before decent hop-ups were easy to get hold of.

I am running the stock pipe. I don't think there are any that are quieter than stock.

Thanks

I agree with all these lads, but if the big LOSI is not your cup of tea then its not and thats it.
Myself if it was my car and my son said its too loud, I'd say well you can stay here and I'll go on my own or with a mate. If you bought the car for him, did you not explain that it would be louder than the hair dryer and not to complain when you spend so much money on him.
Any pics. Of your LOSI mate, I might buy it of you myself, I've just sold an e-revo brushless, got fed up with the damn thing breaking, if iTa right I'll have it of you in a heart beat.
The jet pro is said to be a bit quieter, but gas burner are combustion engines and naturally going to be louder than hair dryers.
