I am very tempted after watching videos but want to see it in person first. I just don't see a gas one because of down the center drive train layout. I still remember going to buy the super baja rey truck, just loved the solid rear,i.r.s front , but as soon as l saw the 5t 2.0 next to it plans changed real fast. If l could only figure out how to stuff a raminator rear axle under my 5t.......
I believe that is called a Kraken Vekta... Lol I love the Vekta on gas, but I feel like electric would just feel wrong.

I run 10,000MAH CNHL lipos on my dbxle and 30DNT on 12s. I typically get anywhere from 25-30mins of run time and I’m pinned on the throttle 90% of the time. Never had a gasser, nor do I really care to tinker with one. I’d rather plug a battery in and go play, I’m all for the simplicity and convenience of electric.
I like the sounds of that

No IC, no me.

I love batteries in smaller vehicles but I do not like massive lipos. More cells more chance for failure. Of all the 6s packs I've purchased for my infraction many of them went straight back because of dead cells.

This is the better video with Chris Higa, one of the designers, going through the truck design in depth:

If I could get run times like that out of a truck that big, id probably go brushless. You are the first one I've read claiming longer than 10-12 minutes. Short run times for battery rigs are why I stayed with nitro and gas exclusively for years sans crawlers.
I've owned a handful of large scale electrics. 5ive-T, DBXL, Vesla, X-Maxx, XRT, Outcast 8S.

And I've gotten 30-40 minute run times with all of them. At that point I'm ready for a break anyway.

Watch a race we get 10 minutes out of 1/5 rigs. The new 3.0 looks to be 7 min which is good enough for a basher but we are looking at $1200 in batteries for 3 a mains unless you fast charge. Which im preparing to do for the sake of fun hehe. I also do not like 1/5 brushless but this new 3.0 is more like a MT. The fun factor is up, it’s new, the gas version is for more advanced hobbiest. We should see a gas version soon. There are some tricks to get longer run times and we should be getting brake cams so we can add mechanical breaks, turn off the drag brake, add a servo battery and get some surprising results. Remove the rear bumper and spare tire completely , cut the cage, maybe run 2.0 wheels and we got some thing that can make a 10 min race I think.

The brushless 1/5 class is the smallest but people will try it. Turn marshaling brushless class is not possible at 12s or should I say safe. The truck is now a legit safety concern. So talking to some track owners it seems 1/5 brushless wont have turn marshals at all , so if you crash you can go get your own truck but no one from the gas class can be expected to marshal for you. I feel this might be better to add to the realism of racing , forcing people to go the speed they can handle. Different track will have different policies . Five minutes of racing is a lot when you first start.

I feel we needed to go shorter and lighter with the 3.0 brushless or gas but now we are around 17 more pounds obese. Being longer does not lend to racing or being heavier. The DBXLE 2.0 was prob the better platform for brushless for racing.

I’m probably getting a new Losi 5ivet 3.0e because I wanted something big to bash with, this truck is big. For the gas community it’s a disappointment as Losi sent it to YouTubers and so on for feedback and shut us out. We didn’t get anything we wanted as gas racers.

As a TOY the 3.0 is great and after all that’s what it is but for racing meh, the gas will prob come and maybe we can use it but being longer and so on, the 2.0 truck seems to being going up in price all ready.

This is pretty much the run times I've been told by people who have put a stop watch to their 1/5 scale brushless rigs while running. My assumption as to the reason the trucks like the Xmax, XRT, Redcat vigilante ect, get longer run times is less weight and maybe more efficient drivtrain. Running a new pair of SMC 9500 HCL-HP packs, in my vigilante, I've went 25 minutes according to the timer on my phone and not hit low voltage cut-off. I'm happy with that. I would think a brushless Hpi baja or kraken vesla would fall somewhere in between as they are lighter than losi 5s / MCD and only turning 1/2 the drivtrain. That said, I'll buy a gas baja if I get one. I need to put my Zen g320 in something. Lol

Just had a thought....scared myself.... 3 to 6 months before we see a clone.....or if they are smart, a roller...... l don't see a gas because of the down the middle drive train

I haven't had a full blown race before, nor a 1/5 electric but 10 minutes is crazy short. The shortest run time I've ever had in a 1/5 scale is my rovan baja and its still 15+ minutes and thats blasting hard.

Sweet pup! what was was the total dry weight of the 5T 3.0 without your puppy baby? lol! seriously though...
