Hey guys, I recently joined the hobby, got myself an Outcast 8S EXB and I strapped a max 5 with the 1100kv motor, bunch of aluminum upgrades and traded it off. Anyways a couple trades later and I just acquired a 5T v1. It was not cared for… at all. So I’m in the process of unfuking it. I took out the outdrives, the springs, the tie rods and the chassis bracing from the rear so far. I sanded the rust off wherever it was and painted all the metal with Rustolium black stainless steel and then put a clear coat on. For the drive cups I let my daughter use one of her metallic markers and pick the colour. I hope the paint last at least a couple runs on the outdrives lol, maybe I should get some mud guards? Or is it an exercise in futility? Maybe a couple extra clear coats? Please keep in mind I’m new to this, so go easy on the ball busting

Welcome to the forum and so far so good 👍. I'd also at minimum popping the shields off the bearings and giving them a good cleaning and grease, also it will show you the health of them and let you know if you need to change them. When you can get a better pipe as the losi pipe is just good for noise. As far as mud guards get the cv protectors from bonehead rc which taylor rc sells.

Is that a Losi pipe? I thought the factory pipe was just a little rectangular box on the side for noise abatement?
