Usual source DDM and they simply slide right onto the crankshaft?.

HRSeal Inserts - dd263

https://www.davesmotors.com/HRS-Zero-Drag-Crankshaft-Seal-Inserts-

"Set of two (2) high performance precision-machined, honed brass crankshaft seal inserts from HRS. One of the key ways to improve engine performance is to reduce internal friction and drag wherever possible. These inserts help the stock rubber crankshaft seals reduce their "death grip" on the crankshaft, while still preventing all air and mixture leakage. Several years of testing in RC applications has shown a typical performance gains of ~.2 HP and ~300 useable RPMs. Improves performance throughout the RPM range."

Easy to install next time, when your engines apart.
They can be found on dotd also.
PS: Its used in conjunction with your rubber seal and fits inside of rubber seal.

Hmm, interesting.
So does it bend the seal lip backwards? I'm just simply not seeing how it reduces friction from the seal.
Plus it doesn't appear to have any press fit, so how is it sealing on the crankshaft? May have to grab a set amd play with them.

Just pull the springs off your seals. In the end they will run the same after a little bit. Keep in mind that seal inserts have a gap around the shaft and seal area all the time. In boats for us it might be OK because we have no sand or dirt to get into the engine. Keep in mind you are now removing a sealing area low to the ground which makes it easier for stuff to get sucked in. Dirt and what not. Sometimes they are a little hard to start because you are now having a leak per se all the time. The rubber stock ones with the spring removed will seal once the crank pressure goes up on starting if you just pull the springs off your seals. But will need to be changed a little more often because once the seal lip is gone there is nothing sealing and leaking oil and fuel will result. They will run for a while with no issues. It is only when you start to have starting or tuning issues or leaking than they need to be changed.

Thanks Todd, good to know. I'll try pop the springs on a set of new seals and see how she fairs. ??
