I highly doubt it. My stock steering servo fried in 15 minutes when i ran it straight off the 6v battery pack instead of the reciever

i thought the extra juice might make the steering servo a little snappier. i was also assuming that down the road i will upgrade my servos to high end hitec or futaba or whatever is really good, and i didnt know if 6v was enough. i'm newer to 1/5th scale but i always used 7.2 for my little revo 3.3 servos.

I run my hitec digital large scale steering directly off a 6v 5 cell 3000mah pack with no porblems. I run the + and - to the battery with a splitter and the signal wire to the RX. Its worked great for over a year. Im going to try lifepo and run directly off the batt eventually. 7.2v will fry a servo unless its one of the new 7.4 lipo friendly ones running on 2s lipo. Lifepo has lower voltage than lipo so it can run directly.
