7144 - Universal Drive Shaft for Rampage XB & XT

Ordered this part to replace one that I broke and it definitely is different from the stock part on my XB. Someone please confirm!

Yes seems like I remember reading on this blog that that is the correct part but I think they make the threads the same size of the shaft to maybe make it stronger. I am sure that some one who knows what they are talking about will chime in but it has been discussed here before and that is the correct part just made better.

Yes, they changed the thread, so it doesn;t break as easily.

So the diameter is totally different? I am supposed to drill out all my wheel centers now? WTH?

Yes, you would need t0 drill them out.

They changed it a while back. It's not to tough to make the wheel holes larger. They're pretty soft, you could even use a body reamer. You will have to get the new wheel nuts also.

So is the manual gonna get updated? Seriously, at least state the prerequisites on the Redcat affiliated sites informing them what is needed to make them work with the older (not that old) stuff...

I appreciate the upgrades but can we get some kind of sticky on the forum and/or the Redcat site on any significant changes on the gear?

I am not liking the fact, I would not have to use a huge a$$ 10mm nut...they will not fit any wheel that has any offset(ie, the wheels I just upgraded to...uggh) I will be doing a mod and see if that will be strong but keep the same dimensions of the original outshaft. PIA...
