What is the best fix for the stock shocks on the FG? They have no rebound at all. Should I put a certain weight oil in them or do you pretty much need to get different shocks all together to cure the problem? Also, are there any adjustable front a arms? The tires are so tilted, I can't remember if that is castor or camber or whatever. They are aligned and point straight ahead but they are slanted, the insides of the tires are barely touching the ground. I need a way to pull the top of the tires towards the truck and a way to push the bottom of them away from the truck to even them out and get them flat on the ground.

Sounds like you got too much camber the wrong way. Look on top were there is a ball joint. At the root of the joint there is a small turnbuckle, you want to crank it until it solves the problem. You don't want to have the wheel too straight, you want it to go inside about 1 degree or so.

As for the shocks, you might need stiffer springs. I run 40 wt oil in the front and 20 to 30 in the back with a good medium tension spring.

thanks a lot, i will try different oil and springs. i had no idea where to start, that's a great place to start. I don't see any adjustments except one that is behind the upper a arms.

on the front I actually use a lower arm on top. I just cut some of the center out to clear the shock. no adjustment but sits where I like it. it was one of those use what you have things to try it out that worked out well and never got changed

:helpsmilie: Need a photo for this one. There should be no problems with the wheels like that. May not have something hooked up correctly?

I just put king cobra balloon springs on the back of my marder. They have made a good improvement over the std shock springs. Definately better return on them :D

I need to check to see if I have some bent screws. I will take a look tomorrow and if that isn't the problem, I will post pictures. I have an idea.

The screws were bent that hold the knuckles on, one on each side was bent real bad. I put new screws in it and it is so much better now. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to take it out. I haven't even drove it since I got it. my 4x4 kit may be in tomorrow. Then I have real problems. I may have to buy an 4PK. My DX3S doesn't have throttle mix on it. I am going to have F and R hydraulic brakes on it on different servos. I will be able to use a pig tale to the servos but then I have no brake bias control. 4Pk is a lot of $$$$$ though. Also, tomorrow I may be changing out the shock fluid on it to see if that helps. Tonight I was busy rebuilding suspension on the 1/16 revo and putting RPM arms and aluminum toe links. That thing is incredible on 4s.

Are the front uprights plastic?
Those screws will need to be watched. They bend all the time because of the big tires. Not a big deal, just watch them. If you are running plastic uprights they can be a real pain.

they are plastic uprights. i put the new beadlocks on and tried it out for the first time last night. all i can say is i like my redcat a lot more in the snow and ice conditions. i cant wait to get the 4x4 kit and get it installed already. of course my headgasket had to blow on the redcat last night.

Isn't that typical. Ya, 2wd in the snow isn't the best unless you keep to the street or trails. Glad you kept both now? ;)
Think about saving up for the MT alloy uprights. They are worth it. Make sure you get the MT uprights though. There is a difference. They will be the ones with the small stops not the one with the large stops.

You may find the screws back out more if you don't blue locktight them in. The best way to do that in the plastic ones is to get the blue locktight in the metal ring. The plastic has a tendency to wipe it off the screw before it gets to the ring. You can buy a bunch of screws at the hardware store that will fit the pattern and you can cut them to length.

Here are the MT ones:

I had a feeling it wouldn't be real good in the snow since my 5b was bad too. The 4x4 kit will be here any day now. Then I just need to find a way to hook up the rear brakes, it is really hard to drive with only front brakes, you hit the brakes on snow and ice and you can't steer since the front tires are locked up. It throws one hell of a roost though! Here is a picture it before I took it outside.
