hi. i expect my tt5 to show up near the end of may.


1 -from what i've read i'll need to oil the filter...do i use the same filter oil as in my nitro or is there something i should get from an auto parts store?


2 -when i have some spare $, where can i get a k and n filter that will pop on the stock motor or is there a better filter to get?


3 -i hear i will need an aluminum gear plate...or would the aluminum reinforced plate that comes with the upgrade kit work?


4 -also i was wondering if the upgrade kit comes with instructions for installing the upgrades?


sorry for all the questions but im super excited to get into fifth scale...i actually had to limit myself from asking any more. thanx
 
1. Yes. Same filter oil.


2. K&N is better suited for on-road purposes. Majority of people here use an HPI 5B air filter assembly with an Outerwears pre-filter.


3. Stock gear plate has worked for me. If anything, vent the gear cover.


4. I would assume so, but if not, the instructions that come with the Rampage will work. Pretty straight forward. Of course this is assuming the upgrade kit hasn't already been installed from factory.

ive seen that people have drilled holes in theie gear covers...i guess they tend to get hot.


and are you under the impression that the v3 will come from the factory with the upgrade kit?

The version 3 Rampage won't need an upgrade kit. It has those changes and more incorporated into it already from the prior version 1 & 2.
 
Yes vent the gear cover, alot of heat is transferred from the clutch into the gears resulting in failure. Its a simple fix :)
 
i was reading that people had trouble with their plastic gear cover flexing resulting in sloppy gear mesh at the time that it flexes and then having stripped gears.


i hope that the v3 will address most of the previous problems.


will a stock 5b air filter assembly pop right on without any mods?
