If it is in great condition, and IF you are truly interested, it's definitely worth considering. That said, remember that "looks can be deceiving". For example, if you were local to me (Las Vegas), I'd offer to trade my highly-upgraded X-MAXX for your Baja 5b, I'd tell you it's in excellent condition (which it is), and I'd even send you photos to 'prove' it's in excellent condition...but, without personally inspecting it, you'd have no way of truly knowing whether my "excellent condition" claim was an honest one.

My point is, IF you are truly interested in such a trade, you should arrange to meet the person, allowing him to personally inspect your Baja 5b, while simultaneously allowing you to personally inspect the Primal truck he's offering for trade. Only then will both of you be able to determine whether, or not, the trade is truly worth it...and, by "worth it, I'm not necessarily referring to actual value. One vehicle could easily be have a higher dollar value...but, if the person currently owning that vehicle REALLY wants the other vehicle, then such a trade could be considered "worth it" (again, IF that other vehicle is in the condition of is claimed to be in).

Whatever you decide, best of luck to you. Just " think hard" about the trade, as you don't want "buyers remorse" (or, in this case, "traders remorse") two months down the line. I learned that one the hard way a few months after selling my ProMarine Skater X2 a couple years ago.

Im just looking for something to tinker with. I just don't want to bother if it is so outdated that bringing it up yo speed will cost me big. I would drive it like its meant to be and not go crazy with it.

Like a winter project to tinker with from time to time when I need to blow off steam in the garage. I just don't know which version this is by looking at it. Im trying to see if its even worth going to look at it.

that's at least a v2. If it runs and everything works, depending on your value of what you are trading, l would jump on it. New that's a three thousand dollar truck. It looks pretty good. Used that's a maximum 1500 dollar truck. At a minimum you will want to completely disassemble it and check everything. At a minimum pull tranny and make sure both reverse springs in there. Absolutely split axels and do bushings and diff bolt modifications. Everything is over locktited or no locktite..... get in mini butane torch and a set of taylor rc hex tools, around 50 bucks. I got a brand new v2 raminator 2 years ago for 2200 bucks at a hobby shop, completely disassembled and did the diffs, eliminated reverse, put a bartalone pipe that l already had on and other than a brake servo it's been great. I also put steel brake pads, thin pad shaped, on to keep from eating aluminum stock pads Measure the shock shafts, if they are 10 mm, and by the looks that's a v3 electrical boxx.....it's probably a v3 . Again l would grab it if everything works. If they can't run it for you to verify it runs......500 bucks and ship it to me!!!!

I think i'll go take a look at it. It would be really fun taking that thing apart and learning all about it. I have around $2500+ into the Baja i'm selling. I think he knows he's not going to get $2,700 for it around here even if it is worth that much. I enjoy the Baja, but it just sits on the shelf and looks pretty.

Here is the add he put up: He doesn't know if it's V2 or V3
SELLING MY PRIMAL RC MEGA TRUCK ARTR JUST NEEDS BREAK ADJUSTMENT COMES WITH ORIGINAL TIRES AS WELL AS MONSTER TRUCK TIRES / REMOTE/ NEW 2S LIPO TO RUN SERVO'S / TOOL TO TAKE OFF TIRES AND ORIGINAL BODY $2750 OBO HIT ME UP WITH ANY QUESTIONS

I took a closer look and lm going to say it's a v3. It looks stock other than paint and tires. The shocks look like they're 10 mm shafts, v3 as does the battery box. A new engine is only 125 bucks. Definitely get the taylor hex bits. Another tell is if most of the bolts are socket heads not pan heads it's a v3. I really enjoy working on mine as much as I run them. The brakes as is they whole truck high maintenance. Johnny Crash Racing carbon fiber disc's are a great investment and reduce brake iissues greatly. As long as you keep the motor stock the truck is very good. Throw a taylor 50 in and it becomes a part eater without major upgrades. JCR disc's, v4 steering ,the diff mod and transmission check will make it very reliable and enjoyable. The bartalone pipe, while not cheap does wake the stock motor up along with a carb tune. These are amazing trucks if you keep up on the maintenance. Just don't on throttle land jumps and transmission is good. Check driveshaft pins every run and l trim the ones where the brake disc sit to let the disc slide.Almost forgot, remove metal plug boot shield and put the nkg plug in!!!!! Do not let the truck sit with kill switch lit red or it will burn up servos and set brake endpoints to 80 % or full brake activities kill switch. Absolutely take aluminum servo saver off and change to the steel primal one....that was a 1000 dollar hard earned lesson....

A completely different experience when compared to the 5b and 5t. I own both and both are great however, the Primal rigs IMO, are just cool.

Mick’s suggestions are all sound and like him I encourage if nothing else; throw the aluminum server saver away and replace it with the steel version. The aluminum version galls and binds whereas the steel version operates perfectly and allows a wide span of personal choice adjustment.

Lastly, IMO, they are easy and enjoyable to work on; a tinkerers dream, and built like a brick poop house.

Let us know if the deal works out for both of you.

Takes care.

I would have jumped on the deal immediately. Granted I have a handfull of Bajas just in need of either a battery or a charge and some fuel to get it running and a few more builds in the works.
