Im just about to place an order for some new AA's and need a decent charger. Technology has moved on since I last bought some so what type are you using & which charger (ideally to do AA / AAA)?

A LiFe or LiPo battery pack is best, but if you need individual cells I would get Sanyo Eneloop AAs with Maha charger.

I ordered the Eneloops this morning & they be here tomorrow!

Great choice dwarfy! I've got a set of the Sanyo XX Eneloop's and really like them, in fact I need to pick up more as we're always using AA batteries around the house - last night replacing batteries in a TV remote.

For a charger I use the La Crosse BC-700, decent price and easy enough to use the wife can do it.

The Eneloops arrive today! I went with an Ansmann Energy 8 charger which charges 6 AA's in 3hrs and that is good enough for me. It charges all sizes of batteries so will do the C's, AAA's & PP3's we have for other stuff in the house (kids toys mainly!).

Got them from a company local to me which Trebor uses as well......

You use Energizer 2450's, i should know you still have mine..:lol:

I was using Energizers before but they are coming to the end of their useful life. They were good batteries but don't last long in high drain gear now.

are the rechargable batteries only 1.2v versus a regular battery which is 1.5v

i was told not to use rechargable because of the lower voltage

was i told the wrong information

Yeah whoever told you that is full of poop!! Why would they make AA rechargeables if you couldnt use them as a direct replacement?

Get a decent set of rechargeables and they will save you a fortune. The new technology means they don't loose charge when not in use like the old 1's did.

Eneloops, Duracell, Energizer and the Ansmann Maxe are all decent. Use the link above and there is a deal on for Duracell's at £5.99 a pack.
