I just don't get it, as I mentioned in another thread, I have just replaced my throttle servo with an Hitec HS 7975HB. The other day I replaced the steering servo with a Hitec HS5745MG.


I am using the Hitec Agressor FM Transmitter and receiver that was included with my truck.


When I turn on the switch, and I am turning on the radio first, I hear some chatter at the servos.


If I get out of range the throttle servo peggs the throttle open full.


Any ideas?
 
Stop using it right now before you wreck something expensive. You need a 3rd channel kill switch with/and/or a failsafe. Try a different radio system. I had a 3ch fm aggressor on a mammoth st and it did exactly what you describe. I don't know if it was defective or what but it did not work right and I was dumb for using it. When far away it floored itself. Eventually it hit a mailbox post tore it in 2, almost $100 to fix (those trucks are under $150 used). If you can get a 2.4 ghz, the most common on here are Futaba, airtronics, and until recently nomadio. For a backup I use a traxxas 3ch with the crystals reversed so someone even on the same channel does not interfere and it can be used with a 3 ch kill switch. You can also bench test for a range issue. Set your Ramp down with electronics on but engine off while a friend watches it, walk far away and see if its losing range.

When I get out of range instead of the failsafe hitting the brakes, it is hitting the accelerator. :(


It seems all is hooked up correctly and I tried an AM receiver I have, that is not the problem, it does the same thing.


I guess the servo is backwards, does anyone know how to switch the direction?
 
On my agressor the servo reversing switch was under a blue see through cover. Try looking there for the servo reversing switch then set up your failsafe after you reverse it. Im not sure but I don't think the failsafe on those will control steering. Didnt you say you had twitchy steering?
 
most failsafes have an adjustable failure point. there should be a small pot that accepts a small screwdriver. put the radio into failure,(car on - radio off) and turn the pot untill the failsafe applies brakes. it is a good habit to check your settings before starting every run.

I switched the throttle and brake so they are actually crossed. The only problem is now on the remote I have to push up for accelerator and toward me for brake.


But, it runs and this is the first time since I received it last Tuesday that I took it out to play. And it is awesome.


I am assuming that I need a servo that I need to have the servo programmed?


At least a little fun before going back to work in the AM. :cool:
 
I was using the Hitec FM radio that was included with my purchase.


I switched to the AM Redcat Radio and it works great, range was great.


Either the fail safe only interferes with FM or the Hitec FM radio is a piece of junk!
 
Fail safe bass-akwards


I just installed a Spektrum DX3E last night. The HPI TF-10 that I ordered when I bought the MT did not inspire faith. It was very jittery and just felt cheap. The Spektrum was a little more $, but it seems like it's gonna be a much better system, and it came with instructions, which is more than I can say for the HPI.


Still haven't driven it yet, but was playing with the failsafe and checking to see if it was right. When I turned the tx off, the throttle pegged...


I took the redcat failsafe out; since the Spektrum rcvr has a built in failsafe I wanted to save space in the radio box...it's kinda cramped with the dual sterring servo y-harness and all.


I couldn't figure out how to adjust the failsafe, so I just crossed the linkages, reversed the direction on the tx and all is fine :) Throttle and brakes work, turning the tx off puts the brakes on full and turns the wheels to neutral position. I'm sure this was a round-about way to get it worked out, but it's doin what it's 'sposed to do, so Im happy with it.

I went on ebay and found the same failsafe that comes with the car which had the instructions on how to set the failsafe.


It had something to do like holding down the reset button on the failsafe when turning off the remote. I am sure you can do a google search to find the instructions.
 
Redcats works like this. Hold the reset button and let the reciever on and where ever you want it to work, hold the throttle their. So if you hold the brake and push the reset on the failsafe, it will set for the brake on.

Just cut the black and the red wire from the servo and connect them the opposite way, i mean red on black and black on red.


that will reverse your servo.
