Earlier today my dad asked me if I still have my old Xbox so he can hack it, download a bunch of games in it, then send it to the Philippines for my younger relatives to play for Christmas! So I go up to my attic and the first thing I saw was a HPI Bullet MT 3.0! (I guess I'm not getting the dune runner) I quickly grab the Xbox and set it on my dining table, so my fiance can see it when she gets home. So when she got home and saw the Xbox she asked if I saw it! I said yes and thanked her for it! But in the spirit of Christmas I'm going to hold of playing with it! But I have a question!! Has anybody broken in a nitro engine in the winter?? Is it bad to run nitro in the snow?

Is it your first nitro?

The engine needs to be warm, room temp at least, to get it started.

A hair dryer/heat gun helps.

You will need to run it a bit rich, [more than factory] And keep the head warm.

Zip tie a paper towel or allum foil around the cooling fins.

Body on will help, Snow and nitro can be done...

But water is not good to get in the air filter, electronics [servos/batt box/ rx/etc] and could rust bearings and screws.

Fuel is cheaper in bulk, a quart cost more than say a gallon, or a case of 4 gallons.

My local hobby shop sells a qt for $18, I bought a 4 gallon "case price" $102...saves like $40

actually its my second! lol but i ran my first nitro during the summer and when its not wet out. but i only had for a week then i went back to electric, then gas. i think im going to make an engine warmer out of a can if corn and a car light bulb. as far as waterproof, the specs from HPI said that electronics are waterproof. but what worried about is keeping the cooling fins dry...i may try a spare outerwear from my XT, spray it with some camp-dry and wrap it around the cooling fins

back in my nitro off shore boat days- if you ran the engine too rich it would wear out the piston and stress the connecting rod. these were abc construction engines- they had to be at the correct mix to build enough heat for the top end- piston to have proper clearances.- not certan if this applies to lower out put air cooled nitro methane enhanced engines. just saying--

Have fun!!! Don't need to keep the cooling fins dry! Also ya I have ran my.Hpi savage xl so rich that I fried my con.ecting rod end that goes on the crank. Have fun with it
