I need to add more stopping force. When I have the brake fully applied, the servo surges. if i put pressure on the small black spring towards the servo the surging stops, is this how i thighten up my brake?

On the end of the brake rod nearest the brake is a knob this is the adjusting knob. If right before the knob there is a spring you need to replace it with some nitro fuel line and get rid of the spring. There are shims for shimming the brake pads if needed. This is all covered in the manual.

Have you got the standard HPI brake pads fitted with the 2 disc and 1 star disc, if so i'd get the Vertigo Triple Carbon Pads, they will make stopping so much better..

As said remove the spring at the brake cam side and fit a length of fuel tube in its place...

I honestly don't know if it's standard or not, the truck is heavily modded I bought it used.
I don't have a manual. I'm a 1/10 scale revo /tmaxx guy for many many years, this is my first 1/10 scale. ill post 2 pics of the area i believe yall are talking about just to be safe.

If you replace the spring with tubing and looks like you could add a shim to the pads this will help out a lot even with the stock set up. All so a high torque servo makes a big difference.
