With your radio and receiver on, but engine not started for safety, try accelerating, then braking.
At idle, there should be perhaps 1mm slack at the back of the rod adjuster - on the back brake. If there's more, then you may close this up, so the brake is not binding at idle / rest to approx 1mm.
Now try braking hard, and look at your (plastic?) radio tray - it bends to "£$%£"$% !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why the alloy radio tray, with good location, or as Voo says with at least more support posts making it's location much stiffer, is MUCH BETTER - a good solid, non flexing location of your throttle / brake servo.
If there's nothing on FleaBay currently, they're often popping up and are not expensive.
