Well I was on the beach during weekends with my family and of-course my rampage tt.

Things were ok, had fun drove tt on sand and rocks.

Came home, cleaned with WD40 and things went bad.

Old (black) screws got rusty, diff cups got rusty too. And some other stuff got rusty.

Anyway this is my old tt and it was used before so lower F&R arms have to be replaced as well as F&R knuckles. Then chassis went really bad (yes I still didn't replace it). There is also other stuff that I can think of that went bad...

So I estimated how much it will cost me to replace parts and it is about $300-$400 (new chassis, shocks, CVDs, new front&rear differentials, F&R lower arms knuckles etc, repairing broken jetpro pipe..., and other) and now I am thinking either to either replace and upgrade current tt or buy new V3 dunerunner or tt/mt.

Just post what you think, and yea I know I should have used WD40 right away and cleaned all the sand... :o

try a DunRunner out....this baby stomps with the special 30.5cc in it ,SS pipe only but good enough for now..

and yep WD40 is your friend :)

hell we even use that on oil brushes to keep them soft :)

Hey Lords,

Where did you get your 30.5 cc motor for your DuneRunner? I need to start building my X-mas wish list :-)

I voted for you to buy a new one too, I mean if fixing your old one is gonna cost almost as much as buying a new one. I would get a new one and use the old one for parts, just my opinion.... :D

I was driving it on the sand only. Maybe it was on wet sand for just a bit.

Other than that it was just sand only.

Edit:

I got some pics (thx dad) posted in pics section.

I live 30 mins from the beach and beleive me the salt content in the air alone is enough to rust metal parts. You don't have to drive around in wet sand or salt water to see rust starting to form. Next time you go to the beach make it a point to eyeball a few guardrails along the road when you get close to the water, you will be surprised at how rusty they are and thats galvanized steel.

I had a old 26cc with a carb flywheel and clutch and used a 36mm big boar kit with the head cut to a 14:1 compresson kit with a 1mm stroker piston arm.

then i added my porting and polished the hell out of it on the inside leaving the intake port wall rough to mix the 2 stroke gas .....

now because of only a stroker and not a stuffed stroker i get the high rpms.

sucker cranks ...no work tomorrow so need to find a field to get some video..before i blow it up...lol

sorry DanSpd for this small highjack :(

and what ever you get at the least it will be version 3 which is a upgrade for any of the 1/5 scale, plus you mentioned sand and that's what it does best.....

peace...

P.S lightning73 let me know if you needs engine help ,so you can have a great winter..i am running 32:1 but rich for about a tank so i can burn in the ring as that was even clipped down a tad so it don't push on the cylinder walls as many do

i won the challenge of re-rounding a ring...yea-haw... :)

I know it will be my first winter in 1/5 scale 4 wheel drive (always ran 2 wheel) i already know what the rest of the scales can do so. :)

believe it or not that sand will rust them parts faster then water on a rainy day :) ...lets call it compact water/wet sand lumps...not a good thing

after a good sand day it's total break down time with the drive tran and engine area!

Sorry for bumping thread. I forgot to add something.

I have been told to use liquid tape on all parts that might get rusty.

Anyone can comment if that's good or not?

so Dan if you can keep the repairs under $150.00 dollars then i would go ahead and fix what you got! but if it's gonna costs more like 300-400 then you should get a new v3 and also might want to get the stainless steel srew kit for the rampage just a couple idea's i was going to run my TT at the beach but maybe not after your ordeal! hope you get a new running rig soon sorry to hear its down..

Well today I took a look at my TT again, and I think I can actually fix it. So I will be fixing and getting V3 DR.

I just have kinda off-topic question. Does Rampage MT chassis for dual steering (part #50001T) comes as V2 or V3? On picture it looks like V2 but maybe they changed it.

Looking forward my new DR, fixed TT and converted to MT, and brushless backdraft :)

P.S. Getting a list of parts ready (Click here)
