Well, I ran two tank fulls on my 4x4 DR. This little buggy is fun to drive, although I was a bit disapointed with the top speed. It seemed very slow compared to some of the DR videos I've seen.

We played with the mixture settings on the carb and it didn't seem to help too much. I am running the 20:1 fuel to oil ratio as recommended during break in.

This brings up the following questions I hope someone can answer for me:

1. Did you find that you needed to play with the carb mixture settings as they were set by the factory? This is help with your top speed?

2. What tuned pipe do you guys recommend and where can I ordered it from?

3. The DR came with 4 additional plastic gears. Are these replacements for the existing gears or different gears to play with the gear ratiom performence, etc?

4. Short of changing the engine (and of course 30:1 mixture and a tuned pipe), what else can be done to get better performance?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Overall, I really like the DR. It is fun and a great value. Starts easily enough, etc.

It will get better speed. 2 tanks is just to break in.

About the tune pipe, I run ddm dominator fast pipe, you can see how looks in my DR in pictures and videos.

It will help to be fast put a 8000 rpm clutch.

I run 25/1 mixture.

Get a hpi air filter.

dunerunner!

i have v3 2wd dunerunner, with a race ported 28.5 and cpi bb pipe. got a top speed of 50!

Thank you, gentlemen. May I ask where you ordered your pipes from? I think I can get the DDM from Python Racing.

as long as you are happy with the tune being correct,it sounds like you mainly need to play with gearing. a pipe and bigger engine will give you more power but if you are topping out on rpm it wont matter how powerful your engine is.

Like they said above, but once you get 5 tanks through it you should see a noticeable difference.

Add a good pipe and the difference from what you are seeing now will be substantial.

I ran a RDLogics pipe which isn't too loud with great results. Like everyone has said, the more tanks you put in, the better the performance...

I purchased the DDM Dominator:

from Dave's Motors, but it does not seem to fit my Dunerunner. Did I order the wrong model? I have the Recat Ramepage Dunerunner 4WD Buggy, and it looks different than what you see in the picture on the URL above. For one thing, the engine on my buggy sits further back. Has anyone been able to install the Dominator on my exact car?

Thanks,

Kory

Thats the one designed for the Rampage TT or MT model, not the dunerunner.
That is the only one they have on their web site for the Red Cat. Can someone provide me with the URL or part number for my car? Their sales person was not very helpful as he did not know the red cat very well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
