hello just a little tip for your air cleaner , I have a super dusty track with super fine dirt , what I started with was a K&N filter. now I have heard that the K&N is not much good in dirt so I added a second stage by inserting inside the K&N a oiled foam filter( baja type) ,just pushed the complete foam inside the K&N , the next problem I had was dirt collecting on the outside of the K&N(what a mess to clean) ,this is the best part, for a 3rd stage I use a coffee filter pulled over the K&N and I use a elastic band strapped around the neck of the filter to hold it on ,after a couple of races I just pull off the coffee filter and throw another one on ,takes 2 seconds and a pack of a 100 costs only 2 bucks , dirt does not stick to the outside dry filter and the little bit that does make it through the first filter is easily stopped by the next 2 stages .this system cut my need to service the air cleaner from every day to once every week .it's easy ,cheap, and fast as you can just stuff a couple of spares in your pocket and use as needed. dosn't seem to restrict at all ,I first tried the baja filter alone but it gets caked in dirt in a couple of runs and chokes the motor out.I even tried to wrap the baja filter with a prefilter but that was way too restrictive because the prefilter was laying straight on the oiled foam . the K&N is ribbed and much larger on the outside so the prefilter does not touch the oiled part of the filter.I guess in a less harsh environment like on road or grass or sand I could get by with less.the K&N seems to adds no restriction to the baja filter inside and the outside paper filter has zero restriction it just stops the dirt from sticking .I do understand not wanting to use more than you need and the baja filter is good in most cases but useless on my track.figured someone out there must be having the same problems,I can't be the only one running this hard .

what about useing a shop-vac filter on the outside ? these are reinforced because of all the trash that bashes into them as the shop-vac is being used---the bigger and more sloppy looking the better- more surface area to catch the fine stuff.

outerwares

Yea, I would like to find where to get the outerware in bulk- they have this for all kinds of stuff- dirtbikes-ect- save som coin ya know?

You don't need to oil the outside foam on the HPI filter, just the inside.
Yeah LOL I know that but my track is like moon dust I will kill a baja filter in 10 min on the xsc , on the MT it lasts a bit longer about I full tank and it,s back to the sink cleaning .the baja filter has such a small outer area that even covered in paper it plugs too fast .I am only using the K&N for a large frame to cover in paper . the paper pre filter doesn't last much longer but it's a quick change ,I just throw one on every fill up .I guess I could buy 10 of the fancy prefilters and clean them once a day and just swap them out when needed , but when I can buy 50 disposable for $2 whats the point .the vac filter is a good Idea also as it's bigger then what I use and would flow better ,but I really need something cheap and disposable .Don't get me wrong I don't mind servicing my trucks but with 3 of them needing filters every 10 min it's becoming a full time job LOL.I will have to scope out home depot to see what they have in the filter isle .Roger
