Hey,,Hows everyone doing? I hope Great,,,I have some questions,,Redcat XT,,,First,,I had a problem with right steering mount,,No parts,,So I made my own,,case 8 bolt with alu, spacer and washer,,cut spacer down to size, soldered washer to it ,,Trimming bolt took the longest, thread by thread,,had to fit just right. It works great,,So I took the Cat Out for a run on flat tires ,,,I tried a few Jumps,,TOO front Heavy,,Went around back field a few times,,,ran great,,,And then It happend,,I,saw smoke,,So I turned around,The Cat Didn't get to me it stopped, engine still running,,I got to It and shut it down,,,Gear cover smoking,,,after cool down took gear cover off,,And found A Melted Mess,,,,Now my question is,,,,Does the AL Diff mount set use same screws as the plastic one ???? Thanks DannyD

hey danny i built my ramp for my XT its 4x4 and is about 22 degree and my XT jumps like a pro if i can ever get the wife out to video ill post some but thats an if she thinks it too much money and takes tooooooo much time from her but my XT is more fun lol

Its been a month and a half since the first post but, with my fingers crossed that someone will read this, I will add to this a bit.

I picked up a used XT and the plastic gear plate was in two pieces. So I got the aluminum one also. Of course the bearings are much bigger so I measured them and ordered some from a company in Mass. Anyhow, its all back together now. I have steel gears on there and the mesh between the gear on the clutch shaft and the center shaft are very tight. Its tight enough to make the truck come to a halt on its own with no brakes. I can see running it for any length of time would do something similar to Danny D's melted mess. They were warm to the touch after a minute of driving. I could hear them whining from yards away, even with my DG pipe on there.

So the question remains, if he had plastic gears and I have steel, I can only assume this aluminum mount was milled wrong? My solution is I am going to painstakingly file each tooth thinner to create some slop on the teeth. I don't see any other way around it unless there is a gear ratio combo that seems to function better with this overpriced aluminum "upgrade". Upgrade, my butt.
