is there one availble please ??

To tell you the truth, none that i know of.
What would be cool too is a metal fuel tank.. Just like in the real race cars.

Chris

That would Look cool an alloy tank and an alloy strap....

But!!

1. If the tank is plastik and the strap is alloy the vibrations would eat up the
tank (plastik is not as hard material as aluminium). No matter how much you
round down the edges of the strap
2. The tank and the strap is alloy, its ok(well better than alloy plastik
combination). But! You can not see how much fuel is left inside
3. We tried it, did not work.

Only way to do an alloy tank is to make it from two pieces (you hawe to seal it. Maybe copper seal would do the job). But still massive problems with vibrations. Plastik flexes but aluminim does not, big increase in weight as well.
We had the same idea about two years ago. We thought, if it is on nitro cars than why not on large scale. Whole different storie, different size, different vobrations.

This is only my experience, maybe some budy is skilled enough to make it work we could not make it so we forgotten abut it and made a alloy cover for the tank and strap. Thats was better ( Can not show images. The item was sold and we never took pictures.)

hi guys
ok then,thanks for the replies
i will give it a miss then!!
cheers

Aussie,

Do you have a picture of the tank as it sits now? I have not seen one, but it doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist. Show us a few glamor shots.... ;)
Maybe we can guide you on how to fabricate one..

Chris

hi chris
how are ya
yeah i will have pics soon,im just waiting on the billet rims to arrive this week some time and then will organise getting some one to scan them for me and find some here to post them up for me as i have know idea how to do all this, not much good with computers.
but as reddog said alloy and plastic don't mix !!
but alloy cover may be look and be good though to make up .
cheers

The aluminium cower maybe good if you will find somebody to make you one. If price does not matters, we can fabricate it for you (anodize it as well to red, gold, black or green colour). but be prepared to pay more than 150 euros + you will hawe to dril few holes in your chassis......

I do understand the preference to have the tank translucent, to permit the level of the fuel to be easily seen.
I don't understand what the problem is with the strap being metal, as the abrasion can be negated by rubber lining the contact surface - shiny strap and plastic tank.

Offcorse you would be able to do it, its a good idea. Will that work on the long term? Will that be bullet proof (even if it is justt a bling hop up)?
You know when you buy something you want to hawe it as maintenance frree as possible. We made it, tested it. No long term succes. But like i said before.
We could not find a workin solution. The only solution (for us) was to make an alloy cover, over the whole existing tank assembly.

iv just made a template to make a alloy top cover plate for top of tank now .
just gotta go buy some 1.5or 2 mm thick alloy plate tomorrow.

im mounting it with 2 right angle alloy brackets that will bolt to roll cage and it has holes cut for fuel lines and breather mod pipe and curves around inside of fuel cap hole.
should look and be ok.
just for looks and to add to the all alloy look thats all.
cheers
