Right, I've heard so much about alloy components for the large scale cars but in everyone's opinion which/what are the best upgrades to go for weather it be bashing, racing, bling or just plain durability?

I'm starting this thread to see what you as large scale owner find best for your cars/trucks.This applies to HPI,FG,Carson,Lauterbacher,HARM,Redcat,Duratrax and all the other fifth scales that there are out there.
Everyone has there own opinion and say and I think it would be good to learn off owners who have had good and bad experience with their alloy parts.
I think we should include all the clone models as well.Like what to buy as a first upgrade to make sure the car/truck doesn't fail on the field.
So fellas what do you think? We can all learn off each other here.
James.

alu

Here in Netherlands driving different cars with different brand aluminum parts. When I look at the price / quality I would take Zeller parts.
But I find the elcon parts te best. I use some components from Elcon.
And that pleases me well.
Alu front uprights from pitstop or the same from JFC-racing are in mine opinion the best there is for offroad, and are hardly to get crooked.
I actually talk about the upgrades for a FG.

When I had my baja I got a pair of ram tech rear lower aluminum arms and those held up really well, until we launched the car 30+ feet in the air (and yes someone did take a picture, I just don't know were it is at this time).. Anyways, I told Rob the owner that the arm was bent and he shipped me a new one it was at my house in 3 days..I find that to be incredible customer service..
Modified RC makes really good quality parts (I love that bumper on the MCD)...

For off road, I personally prefer not to do too much aluminum parts on the arms, but I like the shock towers to be aluminum.
On my old baja, I also had a set of RC4WD first generation alu wheels which were really good and never bent.
On my old FG Baja, it was stock plastic and stock aluminum and it faired ok, but the quality of the alu looked cheap (I don't know if you guys know what I mean by that, but sometimes just by looking at it you can almost tell it's gonna break, and usually does).

For On-road, I go all out alu because I am not launching the thing into space and the tolerances are so much tighter.

As far as manufacturers go I only tried RamTech, Modified RC, and Turtle racing products and they are all top-notch...

I am not about bling I only like metal parts to serve a purpose for my personal style of driving and feel.

So far on the Baja's I have not upgraded any aluminum just kept mostly stock.

The FGMT I went with front uprights, gears, diff housing, servo tray and upper A arms. I would like to get lower rear arms due to the flex and plastic getting bent from the support of the truck.

Firehammer is the same as the FG's parts to upgrade.

aluminum spur carrier is the first upgrade to any fg ;)

btb. check out my semi front arms. carbon has been screwed to the top of the lower arm and stiffens it right up.

servo tray needs to be stiffer. front brakes. rear upper arms, metal pinion and a pipe are the main upgrades I think.

More alloy!

My alloy mounts came today and gear carrier, there is just one problem.I bought three mounts, one large ,one gear carrier and two small mounts. The two small mounts are different but I only needed the set of two anyway so the second one is a bonus.
Can anyone identify the other mount?
Any help please.
J.

Sorry folks,I forgot to mention ,its the larger out of the two.

PM me your address and I'll send it to you,I'll put it in the "for sale" thread then we can boost our trader ratings.

lol sure...though I think that mount is worth more than the squares.
I think it's a normal on road mount. I have a solo in my semi and the small mount is basically just an L of metal. either way I have 3 on road chassis sitting here. well 2, still waiting for the one to arrive from the uk.

I have to start a production line tonight. going out now to clean a fiero interior... it'll take me as long to drive there as do the car... good customers though and fellow guitar player, so enjoy going even just for the visit. maybe should take my guitar and have a jam session too.

and as of today, I am debt free!! other than a cel phone bill hehe. been a long time since I could say that. oh hell rambling again. up and down all night.

awesome thanks. I sold off my hobby pro clone (well traded) and sold my firehammer mt. still building my fg off road and have another on road chassis that motor mount is going into. got the bling ordered for it..

I traded for that hot bodies car, so will see for myself how close the wheelbase is for your mitzy shell
